If Notre Dame and BSU are so awesome, why is Vegas betting against them in their season openers?

Because Boise is on the road to a higher ranked team?



And Notre Dame has struggled with Navy the last few years?

As to Notre Dame, taking the points really seems like a no brainer, because I have a hard time imagining Navy winning by more than 17 against Notre Dame (even in Dublin).

To add, Boise State, while ranked in the top 25, is at least 10 spots BEHIND Michigan State. No surprise at all that #13-15 Michigan State is favored over #23-25 Boise State at home.

This couldn't possibly have been a serious question.

And some analysts think that opener is their only real test. Others say BYU is the only other tough test. It is all about scheduling folks - if you want to be ranked. Schedule to win 10 or 11 and you will always be ranked unless blown out by 44 by your arch rival whom was a mediocre team.
