Tougher Road Swing?

I'm going with the first road trip. Short week for the second game (although travelling across the country twice in a week isn't easy either) doesn't help in that game. I think the emotion of the Utah game trumps the Notre Dame emotion as well.

Agreed. If/when we beat Utah, we could experience a let down and get beat up win or lose. Or we lose and let down as well on a short week after a slobber knocker in slc.

Contrary, I think if we lose at ND, we bounce back and don't lose two in a row at GT.

Great question. Was thinking of posting this earlier in the week. Truth is, I think though the variables are different for why they are both hard, it may seem like they are equally difficult. Maybe you should add that as a third response option.

Emotion and confidence play different roles. I think we beat Utah and Boise State, then lose to ND and GT.



In recent history, ND beat Utah badly. We also know we can beat Utah. GT is one of the best teams in the ACC. Some players will remember what Florida State did to us.



Basically, we have more confidence in ourselves for first road swing than the second

ND then GT will be tougher. Not only because of the travel, but also because both are good teams, and they play drastically different schemes. Utah and BSU both play a spread type of O, so with be easier to prep for that way.



Going from he Kelly pass game at ND to the GTech option will be a big change.

Second trip is tougher. BSU will be a good-mediocre this year, especially early in the season as the new starters get things figured out, Utah is an emotional game, but their offense will struggle this year.



Notre Dame has good experience and leadership as they return almost all of their starters, and it's a long trip out to South Bend. Combine that with a Georgia Tech squad who also returns almost all of their starters and plays a very physical game and you've got a much tougher two weeks.

Great question. I would have to say there is a lot more emotion involved with playing Utah and BSU, which would trump the other two games.

Tough call, but I went with ND/GT, because of the distance, and because those will likely be the two best teams we play. If the BSU game were on Saturday instead of Thursday, it wouldn't even be close.

Crossing all of those time zones will affect mental and physical sharpness. The team will not be at its best back East.

I went ND/GT for the above reasons. Another could be the local distractions. There is nothing in Boise or SLC compared to the other locations.

The second group. There is a difference between playing on the road in front of 30,000 people and 80,000 people.

I went with ND & Ga Tech. Greater travel distance and less familiarity with those 2 teams.

Have we ever beat BSU, Remeber our last win in SLC... didn't it take a miracle?



The first trip will be much harder!!

Chicago flight: 2 hours. Bus ride: 2 hours. 1 time zone. THose are lesser variables compared to strength of ND team. That is not tough traveling. I think byu will be up for that game on a national stage.



One factor that hasn't been brought up, climate. If it is a hot and humid day in Georgia, that can make a diff. But I think the temps will have cooled down some by then.



Equally hard. I still claim that these both have some tough elements. Thursday game after Utes thesaturday before is as tough a calendar factor as back to back road games with 2nd in Georgia.

Why does everyone think that Boise is going to be down? Last time they had to replace this many people, I believe they had either an undefeated regular season or a one loss season. Their coach is legit.



I think BYU at best wins one of these 4 games. That game is the GA Tech game. Therefore, I'll pick the 2nd trip as being the easiest since they may actually win one of the games.

SI puts GT at 20 and BSU at 23. ND and UT are not rated. The best coach of the bunch is Peterson hands down. The most difficult place to play is hard for me to know but I have a real hard time thinking the blue turf is not at least in the top two. It is a very loud and crazy place to play. I think the UT and BSU trip will be the harder group to earn a split, let alone take both

That would be in the what road swing will be toughest on the fans poll. Tough to get to NMSU and tough to watch NMSU. SJSU just might put up a decent fight.
