Why I hate fall camp

Fall camp is halfway over. There's only 15 days until the first game. We are fed numerous news stories every day from the various newspapers, blogs, etc. The reason why fall camp sucks is because looking at all of the info we are fed as fans, how much of it is actually good information and not hype/disinformation? The only concrete information that comes to the fans out of fall camp is two things and they are both bad:



1. A player got hurt

2. A player is transferring/retiring/ineligible to play



The media is only allowed to watch a small portion of practice. The coaches don't give away much information, Bronco isn't even going to talk about the depth chart until game week. We can try to dissect stats from practice but its all meaningless. If you want to look into the numbers and get excited about things you are more than likely to get disappointed.



August 30th can't get here fast enough for me. I'm ready to see how good we actually are. Enough talk, let's play.

Yeah, but Riley went 7 for 8 and 54 yards against the one's...or was it the two's....or was it the all-redshirt team? Was that 7-on-7 or 11-on-11? He also would have run for a 40-yard touchdown, but for the quick whistle!



And Hadley and Bills combined for 5 "sacks" because they made it around the tackle 5 times.



And Hill looked really good on the rope climb at the end of practice! [TIC]



I actually do get excited, but more just because we finally get to see some live football and get to put faces with names and start to see who might contribute this fall.



It's like the preliminary track heats during the Olympics. They're fun to watch even though the best runners aren't not running their fastest or even finishing the race full speed - just making sure they advance. But you still get to hear some of the back-stories and see who is going to have a shot at competing in the final race.

Of course, if we are all left wondering, then hopefully so are the opposing coaches. I'd rather NOT know and also have them NOT know.

Agreed. Just like Christmas, you don't open the presents until Christmas morning.
