Max Hall our next QB Coach?

I just saw a tweet from Dick Harmon that Max Hall is going back to BYU to get his masters degree. He also mention that it would be "interesting" if Hall were named as a GA in the next few days. I heard rumors that a former player would be announced as a new coach in the coming weeks. Perhaps this is the situation. Anyone else have input?

Does this mean he is officially out of the NFL? It's interesting that AZ was so high on him and how quickly that dissapeared and now apparently he can't make a roster/camp. Has he never fully recovered from his injury?



I'd love to have the team pick up on his attitude.

I think he has a high QB IQ, just not the QB body. No one wanted him after he fizzled in AZ. Ah well, could benefit us greatly if he does coach. I love fiery coaches.

I would love to see Max back on the sideline.

Max Hall is a student assistant on BYU staff, says Bronco.



Riley backed up Max in his senior year. We know how intense Max is - just ask UT about his rant. This will be a big help for Domain to have an assistant QB coach.

Former Cougars Jordan Richardson and J'ray Galea'i, whose careers ended this year due to injuries, will also serve as student assistant coaches. The former players want to contribute in whatever way they can.

Max is finishing up his undergraduate degree and qualifies as a student assistant.



Some of his strengths is his fire, passion and competitive nature. He is similar to Riley In that he overcame some of his physical limitations by working harder than anybody else.



Having him on the sideline while Doman is in the booth will be invaluable for instruction and providing an insight about what the defense is doing, what reads to make, etc.



The intensity for the UT game just went up a couple notches with Hall joining the sideline crew.

I don't want a QB coach. I think we have more coaching needs than another coach dedicated to the QB position. We already have a QB coach - Doman. I like the idea of him getting an assistant/intern, but I don't think we need a QB coach.

I think using Max in this position is a great idea. He is not on the payroll as a coach, but he can be a help to Doman on the field.

I love this move. I bet we see Max taking a GA role next year. I guess i didn't realize he hadn't finished his degree. I think he will be a greater asset next year than this year with a bunch of new QB's coming in. Either way, i am happy to see him on the sidelines.

An assistant to the team that actually has NFL experience? I thought it was best to only hire coaches that have no experience outside of your own institution.

About time BYU starts using NCAA Rules to their advanatage. Getting Max on staff--for free no less--as a student assistant is awesome. I do expect that he will move in to a 2-year GA positio after 2012 season as well.



And in 2 years, BYU could potentially be having 2 coaches on staff "retire", so it could open up an actual spot on staff for him.

Since Max is still getting undergraduate degree (hence he can't be a GA), is he on scholarship or is he paying his own way?

Scholarship would have to be academic. Can't play can't have football scholarship.

What is Max going to do? Teach the new guys how to throw interceptions and make risky throws? I don't know if this is a good fit, let's see if Mr. Beck would like a job.

Max threw an interception or two, but he is the winningest QB in BYU history.

Maybe Max can teach them how to WIN, since the end result is the only stat that REALLY matters.
