Good Luck Juice

So it appears Quezada is transferring. I hope he makes good where ever he ends up. Did anyone of you in cougarCorner land have any inkling this was in the works?

There was a rumor he was leaving soon after his brother was killed. I hadn't heard anything since. Strange timing. I hope he lands somewhere good.



I also hope Adam Hine is the real deal after his RS season.

Wish he were staying, I wish the guy luck, hope he tears it up wherever he ends up. I've always gotten a good vibe from quezada, he just seems like a great young man.

I spoke with Juice briefly his freshman year during the Cougar Kickoff. Really good kid with a great attitude, wish nothing but success and happiness for him in his future endeavors.

I'm sorry to hear this. Sorry for both him and for BYU. We needed him. Oh well, perhaps Jamal Williams and Adam Hine can step up. I always liked Quezada. He had a nice demeanor about him, and he had an intriguing story.

Best for all involved. He needed to be closer to home, and BYU doesn't have to spend time/money/roster spot on a tailback who they discovered suffers from impact-induced migraines. Given all of the circumstances, none of which you would wish on anyone, this is the right move all around.

He was limited in a couple of games last year due to migraines.

I am sad that I will never hear Greg Wrubell yell "The Juice is Loose in the end zone" again. I've been waiting since the WA Husky game to hear that.

It appears that there were a number of factors involved in his decision - one of them being a very crowded backfield and potentially reduced playing time - RBs: Alisa, Juice, Hine, Williams, Lasike - offered schollie in Spring) and FB (Pritchard, Mendenhall). His brother's death may also have factored into him needing to be closer to family. Finally, he may have had physical injury problems that kept him from achieving his desired output. Hope he recovers as he was well regarded by Bronco and the team - they loved his attitude.

How have you not heard that? Did you also not hear about a couple of planes that hit the twin towers back in 2001? TIC (just kidding)

The Juice is Loose - but does not yet know where he is going. At this late date. There is probably more to the story. I always hate to see players leave - but assume this is in his best interest - and if so - it is as it should be.

It was in a KSL story in a follow-up to the Ole Miss game, and Juice's participation in contact drills was limited from that point on to reduce recurrences. It's not exactly a great chink in the armor for a running back.

So far, there is no mention of any bad experience he had at the Y. Model student, well liked, great story embraced by Bronco - I am thinking the transfer is more family related (loss of brother - need for older sibling to set good example to younger kids) than anything else.

And yet it comes suddenly without notice and with nowhere to go at this point. Something changed recently - most likely. But things happen. It may be as simple as seeing what the newcomers look like - or a health issue - or heaven knows what - maybe family needs back home.



It certainly does not seem to be a move to seek greater glory at a big-time program. That would suck.

I remember during media day that RN said look for David Foote to be the surprise player of the year or something to that effect. I'm sure Family has a ton to do with it, but I would be curious if he was getting passed up by these younger players and a walk-on so he bolted? JQ appeared to have a huge upside. Either way I am bummed.

This doesn't seem too complicated. He went home for the summer and it was getting to be time to come back. He just couldn't do it. If his decision had more to do with football, he would have timed it better. I think it had more to do with family (higher up on the priority list than football). I wish him and his family the very best. He was an excellent recruit and I doubt BYU coaching staff would change anything. Can't say the same for the others that left in his class.

I never heard anything about this - not a whisper. A shocker to me. I wish him the best. I was a fan. Hoped for big things for "The Juice" in a Cougar uniform.

I think Dwight's post makes the most sense. The Quezada's have had a very difficult few months. Juice came home for the summer and felt it was best for him to remain closer to home and family.



Tough to find any fault with that decision - if that is what it was.
