Two things I know

1. The Yewts are a bunch of gutless wonders. At the end of the day, after all the rationalizing, excuses, spin, etc., GUTLESS WONDERS. In my opinion, we should play annually or BYU should tell the U to take a hike for good. Screw 'em!



2. Jay Drew and Kurt Kragthorpe are as big of Yewt homers as they've ever been. They make me sick. May they both get cancer of the nut sack!

I just don't get the vitriol related to this development. So many fans are acting like reactive, little brothers. Other than generalized Ute hatred, which I revel in, this is not the "let's screw byu or blow them off" deal that people are making it.

I garauntee if BYU were in a similar situation fans would be saying dump the game. Our schedule would be so tough if we were in the Big 12 or the PAC12 that we would be clamoring for a few easy games. And now how long will it be until Utah sniffs a BCS game or a final four game?

But I guess this reactivity is about BYU scramblingfor credibility while our rivals our going to be flush with cash and at least w chance at an NC.

And I get I'm not one to preach to others about reactivity.

I'm with DM. Utah is no longer our rival. They're just another team we're setting up a two-game deal with.

The thing that makes me laugh about this is how :utard: says they need to not schedule BYU so the can get some easy games. Then they schedule that cupcake Michigan. I don't care one way or the other, I just find it funny how :utard: excels at hypocrisy.



I truly wouldn't be sad to see the game disappear forever, as long as BYU gets the last word in, ie: a drubbing that :utard: will never forget and will forever burn in their memories. in reality, just let them sink into PAC-none mediocrity.

I thought PAC12 contracted with Big10--or at least formed informal union until contractual obligations kicked in mandating one inter-Conf game.

At any rate, if this is somehow exposing some new hypocrisy, maybe some folks have been sleeping at the rivalry over the years. This is noting new.

And to exonerate BYU from what other teams and the MWC snubbed feel about BYU; and what might be arguably accurate is that BYU has acted in its best interest. We may not have broken any contractual arrangements and in fact were dupped by the media arrangement, but not defrauded contractually, but still, some may see BYU being very self serving and thus by exaggeration, hypocrites, chasing the big bucks, etc, etc.

I feel bad for those of you who are so enamored with all things Utah (and this goes for the other forum as well). I can only assume those with the obsession have cursed themselves by living in Utah, but come on this is turning into a little brother issue and, frankly, it's embarrassing.

I don't know that CC is a good sampling of how fans feel about the past and future (or non-future) but it seems 50/50. Maybe even more in the category of "who cares, move on."

Former players are also mixed. I don't know if that is 50/50 or not.

And as for the Board, it seems that even some of them over the past few years with all it's vitriol and visible poor sportsmanship, seem to be committed to the rivalry ending or whatever else will end the hostility.

But it is always the vocal few that seem to make the most noise on any issue. And that noise is over-represented as a result.

The tables seemed to really have turned. byu fans are really acting like little brothers. it is disgusting.

It's not about "acting like little brothers," it's that this has been one of the best rivalries in the country and BYU has stuck to that, even when we had "bigger and better things" like national championships to play for (e.g. Florida still plays Florida St. every year, despite having an SEC schedule). I personally think that we should tell them thanks but no thanks for future games, if they think they're bigger than the rivalry, that's fine, but don't expect us to play when it's convenient for you.

I've already said as much in other threads, but BYU agreeing to a 2013 and and a 2016 deal sends a clear message to Utah that we will gladly play them whenever they feel like it. Wrong message.



If they would like to renew the rivalry fine. If they want to put it to rest, fine. But 2:1 requests, September only, announcing MIchigan's game DURING BYU's media day as part of their watered down schedule hypocrisy, scheduling games in the two years BYU will be breaking in new QBs is NOT in our best interest. Just Say NO.

If Utah doesn't want to play, fine. But BYU's attempts to hold onto something that is no longer is making us look bad. It's like the girl that deludes herself into thinking her boyfriend still likes her even though he's a jerk and is off dating some other girl. We look desperate and petty.

Agreed. Time to move on. It's pretty frustrating that BYU is in a situation where we are basically begging the U to play us. Times have sure changed. Utah has a couple BCS bowl wins under their belt, improved national recognition, and Pac-12 conference affiliation, and absolutely kicked our asses on our home field last year. Little brother, no longer.



Time to buckle up and get things done on the field.

Great point about breaking in a new qb. I sure that was not the primary consideration, but wouldn't put it past the Utes. Move on TH. this does reinforce that we at new the little brother. If we are more invested in the rivalry than they are, just walk away right now.

like I said in another thread, If they want to continue the rivalry and ask to continue it on a home and home basis, let's deal otherwise, BYU has bigger fish to fry.

Speaking for myself, I'm certainly not "enamored" with the Yewts. I do hate them. And so hate to see the annual rivalry die away. But I won't actually lose sleep over it.



The thing that really bothers me is the spin the U of U and it's fans have put on all of it. The crock of crap reasons they've given for ending the annual rivalry. But I suppose it's ultimately my fault for ever expecting the Yewts to be honest, especially about something like this.

I made the mistake of wandering over to the Utes fan board to see what their take on the rivalry is. Holy Moly! How do you guys live in the same state with that disgusting vile human waste? I don't know of any other way of puting it. The rivalry between WSU and Washington (I live in Washington state) is pretty healthy. However, I've never felt the need to take a shower after reading either of their fan boards. There is something very different about Ute fans.........and it is not admirable in any way, shape, or form. I can't believe that I cheered for them to beat Alabama. I can only hope that our team can put the lid back on the rotting garbage can that contains their fans, cuz it really stinks.



I'm all for sportsmanship, but I really hope the Cougs play non-stop, hard hitting, pain inflicting football for a solid 4 quarters against them. I wonder what Bronco will do focus the fire and keep things from getting out of hand?

Someone said this rivalry was no different than any other. I grew up around the UCLA/USC and ours is a lot worst than that one.
