Strength of Schedule

Much floating around on this. My perspective is that a cupcake opponent is a cupcake regardless the amount of frosting. Chalk those up as nearly certain wins. A ball buster is a ball buster. Chalk those up as almost certain losses. But remember ipsets happen and we did beat Miami at home when they were #1 but got killed by them in Miami when they were not #1. But also remember that even if we play the NC team on the road - that is only 1 loss. A loss is a loss. This post is about which schedule would put a good team ar the risk of incurring the most losses - or ties - back before OT came along. Then you have the games that matter most - slight favorite or slight underdog or toss-up. Of course playing decent teams on the road is riskier than playing them at home.



2012 has four games experts will expect BYU to lose and they are all road games. BYU has some opponents like Washington State where BYU will be favored - but the point spread will be within the upset alert range. Upsets, of course could also happen in the 4 where BYU will be the dog. But ignore, for a minute, how good or bad BYU is.



If you were a coach - based on what we know now - list all of the seasons that had a tougher challenge overall for BYU to face.



Quite frankly - I do not think there have been many.



Let me toss Ty Detmer's senior season in there to start the bidding for most difficult.
