Top performer at the All-Poly Camp last Wednesday

Will be attending the BYU Camp and hopes to receive a schollie.

Hopefully brings his bookend teammate Gaius Vaenuku (6-4/245) who also attended the All-Poly camp last week.

Received an offer after his Tuesday morning workout at the BYU camp. He has 11 offers so far. He would be a fantastic get to compliment Troy Hinds.

After meeting with Bronco and discussing the five pilars (God, Family, Friends, Education, Service) that are the foundation for his life, he was stunned to realize that BYU met all of his requirements. They are his top school and he would have committed if his father was with him at the time of the offer. Will discuss his feelings with Dad and get back with Bronco.

I think he is all but locked up. Can't be LDS but is a perfect fit. He is 3 stars and several impressive scholarship offers.

Way excited about this young man. He sounds like he will love BYU.

i love this guys' quotes. It provides an insight into Mendenhall's recruiting philosophy where he rarely talks about football. In a commoditized football world, this is one amazing way that this university is so different. We recruit people who want to become better people. Football is just a tool and a method.



I absolutely love that about our university and about Bronco. it makes us unique, and grabs us kids like this on (hopefully) who understand that there is a life before, during and after football that requires development as well.

Sam Tevi is an example of why I believe that Bronco generally always gets those recruits that truly want to be here or embrace the standards and goals that BYU offers. They aspire to a life that offers more than just football - and they recognize what makes the Y unique and those attending a strange and peculiar people compared to the world.

Something apparently happened between his trip to the Y and Euliss - he committed to the Yewts.

Didn't know that he was LDS - will serve a mission after playing a year.



He listed several reasons for his decision:



1. Utah felt like home to him (said all the players came up to him and wanted to get to know him) and he felt Whit was like his father.

2. Utah’s success in developing top DL prospects before sending them off to the NFL.

3. He became good friends with Star Lotulelei, and renewed friendships with former Euless Trinity players LT Tuipulotu and Hiva Lutui.



Interesting comments about his experience at BYU - said it didn't quite feel the same as UT - have to agree with that - it sure doesn't compare to UT :-)
