:munch: Utah needs a good butt kicking by BYU and the Pac 12.

Meh. If he's that good he'll get offered by USC or somebody else.

Already shown that he is quick to change his mind and his word. Who knows what happens between now and February 2013. Sad to see him decommit as it looked like we had a found a diamond in the rough.

We will lose lots more peoples to U than in the past. We have not dropped - they have stepped it up.

Yes, all of the loose women choose the U over BYU.

Couple of things made JRP a suspect commit - family not fully on board with BYU program - Mom is die hard Ute. He claimed he was 50% LDS (???????) what does that mean? He obviously didn't understand Bronco's standard of what responsibility a verbal commit means - once you do it, you stop trippin to other schools (see Kona Schwenke, et. al.). While maybe a future great prospect, Bronco strives for players that embrace the Y - we just have another opening for another talented, more committed prospect.

Insightful Peoples quote:

"Even though I committed, my options are still open because I hadn't seen other campuses besides BYU. Now I'm just weighing my options and just getting a feel for both. Getting the pros and cons for each of them," he said.

The best -

"Even though I committed (to BYU), my options are still open ...... "

Whaaaaaaa :bug:

Obviously, this young man does not comprehend the word "commitment."

BYU's recruiting is dead. We simply can't compete against a PAC12 team.

It sounds like the rumor of his Utah committment was started by their coaches which is against the rules.

To see the emotional roller coaster that we went through is interesting...some saying UT was selected because it has placed more DL in NFL, they are a PAC12 team, to kid needs to honor the word commitment and chose the right :-) I remember a sound bite from the Laura Ingraham show that is now appropriate: "Power to the Peoples"!

Can we assume - in this literal interpretation world we live in today - that you forgot to click the TIC button or that you are using an iPhone ?

:)

A commenter on the article asked Why Bronco did not boot him or the guy who tripped to OSU like he did Schwenke or whomever it was that tripped to ND.

It is possible that one or more of the following is true

The policy has changed

Bronco prays about these matters and listens to The Lord who knows what is best in the long term for each young man - in matters likely having little to do with football.

These guys wavered very early in the recruiting process - not at the last minute when BYU would end up having no time to find a great replacement candidate for that schollie.

Sheesh - Peoples had just committed 15 minutes - TIC for the exaggeration * not literally 15 minutes - before he wavered - and he was called in and probably given a clear choice to make

Some or all - probably true.

Peoples says that he would rather surround himself with the best rather than just good, so he is keeping his commitment to BYU and not going to Utah.

Wheeew! Close call. I was about to drown my sorrows in a 52 oz. Super Big Gulp, Diet Coke and munch a bag of artery clogging Frito's. Good grief, that was too close for comfort! ;)

Fact: Utah has placed more Dlinemen in the NFL over the past 10 years.

Fact: BYU has been losing the recruiting battle of Dlinemen to Utah for sometime.

Fact: the 3-4 Defense is just not as sexy as the 4-3 defense when it comes to Dlinemen.

Fact: byu is still getting quality Dlinemen.

Fact: Byu could probably do better prepping their Dlinemen for the NFL

Fact: One decommit does not a pattern make.

Sheesh, relax peoples!!! (double entandre intended) :D

This is going to be happening more and more. Especially if we don't bet Utah this next year, and then they shut off all games with us to a 2 no 1 yes, or a format like that.

I have said it for years: The only reason that the Utes would ever play us is if they are losing the in-state recruiting battle, (and getting that back is a priority for them. )

Seems like a good kid and I'm glad he's coming to BYU.

Get used to losing recruiting battles with Utah, as we did with Langi and a couple others last year. They have more to offer, at this point, and ask a LOT less.

I would disagree with this. The only place they offer more is that they are in a bcs conference. that is a big consideration but only one of many important things a school can offer.
