Mark Atuaia Hired as Assistant to AD

As we reported earlier in previous posts, Mark A. was hired. This helps to quell any thoughts that we had closed off recruiting Polys (although we have landed several in 2013) and have the most Poly players besides HI. Now maybe Vai S. can write a complimentary article as we have heeded his recommendation.

Irrespective of what Vai thinks or says, Mark seems very great full for his previous position at BYU and for this new opportunity in the AD Office.



I am sure he still hopes to coach someday and who knows - maybe he will.

Tis does not look like a coaching track. Sounds much more like the admin and AD track. He has a JD for crying out loud. I did ot know that. Congrats Mr Atuaia.

I'be heard rumors of Holmoe sniffing the Stanford AD job, if people are looking for a way to scream "We love poly's" having an assistant AD or an AD that is a poly is a pretty good way to convey that message.

Yes he does. That was part of the story. When he was passed over previously, he was still completing his JD iirc. He was just short of the finish line as I remember it.



So it was a bit surprising that he seemed to prefer coaching over being a lawyer. Maybe this position is a better fit - or just a holding pattern until the next coaching spot opens up.



Either way - he is happy whether Vai is or not.

I'd heard this too but didn't want to be the one to bring it up. I've not seen anything to corroborate the rumor but Atuaia's seemingly sudden hiring is curious.
