Our 2 biggest weaknesses that will cost us at least 2 games this year:



1. No Tight-End. This still has not been solved. I don't care if we have 6 highly-touted TE's on the roster. To me that just means they are all equally average or below. We all love our WR's, but they haven't proven a thing against good competition. BYU's best seasons always include a top end TE talent as a primary receiving target. This season we have none.



2. No pass rush (as the article stated). We had some of the worst blitzes in the game last season. We send 7 and 0 get through. Watch the Utah game again--that prissy Wynn kid had all day to throw even against our blitz! That is embarrassing and cannot happen if we are going to beat Utah, ND, BSU, and GT. Bronco's D does a fine job in coverage and especially vs the run, but 3rd down blitzes have been a major weakness.

I agree that BYU will need to utilize the tight-ends more to really move the offense. We only averaged about 4 receptions per game from our TE's last year and only had 3 TD catches all season. TE receptions are key in 3rd down and blue zone situations. However, I really think Wilson and Holt and Matthews, in a hybrid role, can step it up.



Other than KVN and Pendleton, the pass rush has been pathetic. Good observation. Our d-line is stout against the run, but we need them to get into the backfield on blitz plays.
