Is the Timpview pipeline closing?

Timpview High School is right in BYU's back yard, but could this move clog up the pipeline in a hurry?

Not necessarily---he's a former BYU player himself.

It is tough to tell since kwhit's whole family wanted him to take the BYU job before he turned traitor and turned it down to be a dirty ute (thank heavens he did IMO).

I don't think we lose a lot of ground given the community is very strongly swayed BYU. But I think he may be a coach not as loyal to byu as was Wong. If he were anti byu he would get booted. If recruits start getting lost to Utah, I think you could start to count his days at Timpview.

Yes, I think the Timpview pipeline is closing and it's about 50% this and 50% the district which is bent on redistributing the wealth of Timpview's program.

Little is changing. The best athletes at Timpview and elsewhere if redistributed, will always get a BYU offer if HC and academically compatible and a U offer unless U does not want them or knows they cannot get them. It always has been that way and always will be that way. This is not changing.



This is what is changing.



The new coach may try to steer these players towards the U.



Also - KY Coug posted that BYU is slipping. I called BS. BYU has not slipped. U had risen. U of U has now also risen a bit. TCU rose up. BSU rose up. SDSU has risen up a bit.



BYU rose up slightly with Independence, but got passed by due to U, TCU, and BSU rising even more. And SDSU gained ground and USU is flirting with regional respectability.



What this means is U has become a bit more attractive to in-state recruits than it has been. USU has risen from being a last resort to being - a more palatable last resort.



Net - Riley saved the program so we will not lose anyone but Merlin Olsen descendants to USU - but U will grab a few more than in past years. U will also do better with out-of-state LDS than they have in the past.



If U fails to compete in PAC - they will lose back some or all of their recent recruiting gains. Players like to win.
