Secondary?

We know the front 7 willtough senior laden group that should dominate this year. So as long as our secondary can do their part, this could be one of our best Defenses in a long time.



What is the best option of starters in the secondary?



My main hope is that Sampson plays every down in someway shape or form.

This secondary, while young, has the potential to be the best BYU has had in over a decade. The skill is there. I would like to see Bronco bring back some of the crazy blitzes he used to run, but that will require the DB's to be in man coverage a whole lot more often.

I'm not sure I'd consider the secondary a young group. As of the end of spring practice the depth chart was anticipated to be: Field Corner: Jordan Johnson (RS So. - our youngest player), Robbie Buckner (RS Sr.) Boundary Corner: Preston Hadley (Sr. Played and Started last year), Mike Hague (RS Sr. 2 years at position), DeQuann Everett (RS SR after JC transfer played last year). KAT Safety: Daniel Sorensen (RS Jr. Played and Started last year), Chase Pendley (RS Jr after JC transfer from what I can see don't know this guy), Jray Galea'i (RS Jr. Played and Started last year) Free Safety: Joe Sampson (Sr. Played and Started last year), Skye PoVey (RS Jr. post JC transfer). Also Craig Bills might be in the mix if he gets his legs back well after his mission. But as of now the Depth chart has 1 RS So. 4 RS Juniors, 2 Seniors and 3 RS Seniors.

Our secondary is precisely why this years defense has the potential to be the best we have seen under Bronco and probably the best we have seen since 96 or even 84-85. BYU has been patching secondaries together with walk ons since Bronco took over as HC. This year will be the first year we will see a full defense of recruited players since the 04 HC scandal. If the Offense comes together, we could have a very special year.

With 5 seniors I hope we get some JC dbs.
