Just what we thought: Excellent September and October, lame November, overall good schedule. Tough away schedule, doable undefeated home schedule.

I. Can't. Wait!

We go 9-0 and November will be very exciting.

We'll probably be 4-5 going into November, riding a 2 game losing streak. Looking at the sched, the best we could hope for at this point is 6-3 going into the bye.

I'm glad we have 2 good warm up games before we play the Yewts & Boise St. away. Hopefully we stay injury free for the 3rd & 4th games. We will need "all hands on deck."

I can't stand having all those game on national TV! Ugh!

As of now:

3 or 4 ESPN

0 or 1 ESPN2

1 BYUtv

1 NBC

My guess for the final tally:

4 ESPN

2 ESPN2

1 ESPNU

3 BYUtv

1 Versus

1 NBC

I do like that all the lame November games are away games--much easier to palate the weak ending on my couch in sweat pants with 9-layer dip and a pot of chili than it is in a blustery LES. If we are going to end every season with cupcakes, let's do it on the road.

I disagree. With that home sched, we go 6-0 even if we go 3-3 on the road that is 9-3 much better then the 7-5 you predict. Given the utes have a brand spanking new O-coord who has never called a game against a real defense, I give BYU a better then average shot at that game. BSU is tough but winable and with this years defense anything could happen at ND and GT. Worst case scenario is yours at 7-5 best case is undefeated. We never do worst case or best case so I will split the diference and say we go 4-2 on the road. That gives us 10-2 going into the bowl game.

Frdbtr had the correct range but 10-2 is a bit optimistic. 10-2 certainly could happen. We should be competitive in every game and would be if everyone stayed healthy and we could switch home and away on every game. If we reversed home and away we would lose at most 3 IMHO.

You answered your own question. Sort of. Using last year's Sagarin can be a bit misleading. But let's use them at face value since it is perhaps the best indicator we have.

2010 was pretty tough. Too tough. BYU lost 5 or 6 games Iirc.

2011 was tough enough, but easier than 2010. BYU lost 3 games.

2012 looks to not be as tough as 2010, but will be close and is clearly tougher than last year. Averages can also be misleading. Ask yourself how many games will the opponent be favored. How many other games will have a line of 3.5 or less? It really does not matter how much frosting is on your cupcakes or if TCU is number 4 or number 9. Those things affect averages, but not outcomes so much. We will beat the cakes for sure whether they are 120 or 180. We lose to TCU whether #2 or #9. I will do some counts and come back.

2013 - killer and we will be rebuilding. Look for fans to call for more coaching changes in 2013.

NV 16 - clear underdog

USU 114 - how did we lose this one so badly

SDSU 34 - 50/50

TCU 4 - overwhelming underdog

WY 108 - gimme most years

UNLV 131 - gimme

CSU 130 - gimme

NM 170 - gimme

UT 26 - slight underdog

Experts predicted 6 sure wins. IIRC, we got 7.

We were upset by USU and did about like experts projected on the rest. You win some and lose some vs roughly even opponents. We lost to the favored teams. Pretty much like every season.

2011

Ole Miss 103 - should not have been as close as it was.

Texas 17 - clear underdogs - Texas almost gave it away, though.

Utah 39 - 50/50

UCF 77 - favored. Should not have been so close.

USU 80 - favored. How did they nearly beat us again. RN saved program.

SJSU 96 - cupcake.

Oregon St 87 - clear favorite.

Idaho St 205 - cupcake.

TCU 20 - overwhelming underdog. And, yet, we had a shot. Dang punter.

Idaho 141 - cake.

NM St 133 - cake.

Hawaii 97 - clear favorite.

Tulsa 35 - 50/50. Nice win.

Average 87 - Experts predicted 9 sure wins. We got 10.

2012

WSU 83 - favorites

WSU 136 - cake

Utah 39 - slight dogs on the road.

BSU 9 - underdogs. Especially on road.

HI 97 - favorites.

UTS 80 - favorites.

OSU 87 - favorites.

ND 26 - clear underdogs - especially on the road.

GA Tech 56 - underdogs on the road.

ID 141 - cake.

SJST 96 - cake.

NMSU 133 - cake.

Bowl Game 50/50 likely.

Experts predict 5 sure wins and 7 likely wins and some close games. How many wins will we get?

I was trying to get to SOS not wins. The first two years of indy were hurt by the WAC games but we had to have those to make it work. In the 3rd year the schedule looks really good. So I think the indy is not hurting our schedule even though a lot of folks have been crying about it.

If BYU wants to fix SOS it should:

Get more home games, stay in the region, and rarely leave the state so we can take some frosting off the cupcakes and play some 80 and 90 saggys in place of the 120 saggys.

Trying to raise SOS by playing top 20 teams on the road is unwise and will backfire badly.

If this happens byu football will be in trouble. that will seriously hurt recruiting. we need to win this year to keep thing going.
