BYU's best available option

Since Big XII looks to be out of the picture.



Is Big East the best conference possibility for BYU? Would an outside the box approach to forming a new conference be better?

BYU does not run an option. That would be Air Force running an option.



No Seriously, back to your point of conferences. The available conferences seem to be getting less stable. I would prefer to stay independent, or form a new conference--however, who is left (that is any good) to form a conference with. We would have to pick off some good teams from other conferences, and I'm not sure we could do that.

No matter what we do or BEAST does or probably even whatever the ACC does



Notre Dame can probably do whatever it wants - amazingly - even after years of proving conclusively that they can no longer beat anyone, anywhere, anytime.



SEC can and will continue to pick off anyone other than ND it wants to pick off. Really - when was the last time a team told the SEC "No Thanks". I know it happened way back when. Imagine the regret now.



Big Ten can and will continue to pick off anyone it wants that is in proximity other than ND or SEC teams



PAC Ten is in the same power base as Big 10 but with fewer options due to geographic isolation, bigotry, and arrogance



Which leaves Big 12 to pick over the ACC bones, Beast Bones, BYU Bones, MWC Bones and C-USA Bones as it chooses unless PAC 12 or Big 10 or SEC ever woo away Texas and Okie



Which will leave ACC picking from BEAST and all the aforementioned other leftover bones.



Meanwhile BYU can stay Indy or join a pile of bones and hopefully win a ton of games and grow its fan base and use stepping stones as needed in order to become the most desireable fruit in the Bone Garden.

The situation is still fluid and 2013-2015 is the time period when the changes will be occurring. It is way too early to declare gloom and doom and place the team in the Bone Garden unless you have a bone to pick ;-0

WIN!! Stay put. Keep going 10-2 and options will open.

Independence is BYU's best option, now and forever. Give it time, and everyone will see that BYU should have gone independent years ago. It still makes the most sense of all their options.
