THats right. How dare anyone trample on the sacred shredding of Jake Heaps character performed on this or any other site. it has been proven over and over through wild speculation and third, fourth and fifth hand reports that Jake was void of any redeemable qualities. Jake Heaps regretting a decision? That's nothing new.

Perhaps this is a sign that jake jumped before he thought it through fully and is missing some of the extra benefits a devout lds player can enjoy only at BYU. Or maybe he's just a good dude but wasn't willing to redshirt a year to get up to BYU qb standards. Either way good on him.

My guess is that he misses the campus and the environment. Why is it hard to believe that he found it hard to transfer?

Jake Heaps always was one of the best recruiters BYU had. This article sounds sincere and it sounds like Jake has been taking the high road. Glad to hear he is staying active in his ward. I had never considered how awkward it might be to have transferred so visibly and then go the Ward activities surrounded by BYU alumni.

Why would Jake even be talking with Phil? It's not like they're geographically in the same area right now.



1. To discuss the LDS church



2. To talk him into coming to Kansas like he had planned



3. To recruit for BYU



To me #3 is the one that doesn't make sense.



Like I said in another post; I have a hard time believing that this is a done deal to BYU when Ford's high school coach is now on the Kansas coaching staff, but his twitter is very telling.

Which is why I think any contact by Heaps is not BYU-centric and people are simply making it out to be something it isn't.

Maybe this is what happens when you help a kid transfer and treat him with class and respect instead of telling him that he can transfer anywhere but.....

I think Jake is doing fine at Kansas. Things had deteriorated at BYU to a point where it was best for both to party ways. it was a toxic atmosphere.

I still maintain that things weren't so toxic that Jake had to leave. I think things (feelings by others on the team, among the coaches, etc.) weren't nearly as bad as Jake was perceiving them to be.

Yes, now if we could just get what happens before the transfer to improve (which I admit may include, yes, RS his first year).....

Spiff, I totally respect how much respect you have injected into the whole Jake-post-BYU discussion.

Thanks for the update Jonny. Great post. My sentiments exactly. We won't have to throw an eating Crow party or shall I say a Rock-Chalk Jayhawk eating party. We'll just quietly or maybe abnoxiously (for fun) comment on Jake's success as a Redshirt quitter this year and a successful, learned from his challenges of the past, young man who did in the end have a lot of redeemable qualities and did need to push the reset button on what had become almost unrecoverable nose-dive situation in Provo.

Jake Heaps was far and away the best PRACTICE QB at BYU as well. Hopefully he will shine on the field for Kansas in 2013 on the field a - a full two years more experienced than he was when the 2011 season kicked off and a full three years more experienced than he was when the 2010 season kicked off. Two and three full years of experience should really pay off for any player.
