Phil's high school coach was KC Chiefs Hall of Famer, Tim Grunhard, who is now on the Kansas coaching staff so I don't think this is as much of a no brainer as it seems and I think Kansas still has the upper hand but the kid is very good and the program he came from churns out several D1 recruits every year

The Desnews article indicates that he want to come to BYU because it is the right school for atmosphere, etc. Since he joined the church. He called the coaches and is awaiting word about a schollie - he is ours to lose unless he would be an academic casualty. We could use his 6-6/330 frame on the OL.

Weber met with him and gave him some goals:

1. Weight down to between 310-315 - they will be running OR uptempo offense and he needs to be able to keep pace.

2. Needs to get his GPA up to 3.0.

Bronco will be meeting with him and Coach Weber and Dupaix will be calling upon him regularly to make sure that he is on track. Ward members and the girl that introduced him to the church will also be encouraging him to reach his goals. Sounds like on heck of a support system. Here's to him achieving his goals and becoming a Cougar.
