Has there ever been a top team (BCS bowl type) that didn't get a player drafted? Without the talent, it seems unreasonable to expect bcs type seasons.

Agreed. And BYU did not get BCS contention the 2 years you referred to. However, the talent is in the pipeline for the future, so there is a possibility for it. I think the overall depth and talent BYU has in the program now is better than 2006 or 2009, when BYU last had a serious chance for it. The future looks better than the past performance in terms of skill, that is certain. Just need the results now to back it up.

Cincinnati didn't have anyone drafted in 2009 or 2010 or 2011. They went to BCS bowls in 2008 and 2009. They did have four guys drafted this year, but I don't know how much impact they had on the 2008 and 2009 teams.

Cincy had 9 players drafted from those BCS teams. Namely Mardy Gilyard and Tony Pike.

The closest example is BSU who had only 1 player drafted immediately following their 2009 BCS season. However, they clearly had some very talented juniors and sophomores on that team as evidenced by the next two drafts.

I must have missed them when I was looking.

Not to be mean spirited, but I hope no one from that 8-4 UConn team got drafted.

But, that is another matter entirely. They reached the BCS because of their conference affiliation, not because they were really a top tier team.
