Junior Seau Shot Himself

Very sad. Junior Seau is dead. He was found in his home - a self inflicted wound to his chest. This is a tragedy to the football sports world, and especially the aspiring Polynesian football player world. He was an example and an icon. I was a big Jr. Seau fan.

Yeah, this was quite devastating to me. Junior Seau was one of the very influential players while I was growing up and I followed him throughout his career. Sorry to see this news.

I was totally shocked to see this today. Does anyone else find it strange/suspicious that he would shoot himself in the chest? I know it's not unheard of, but seemed a little fishy to me.

One report said it echoed another recent football player suicide, perhaps for the reason that it allows the brain to be tested for post concussion effects.

You know, I find it more troubling that Seau never once registered as having a concussion on the injury list than I would if he had once or twice. The guy played for 20 years. Hard to believe he didn't get his bell rung a couple times during that stretch.

Very sad indeed. Any theories out there about why he killed himself?



If tests reveal signs of concussions show up should studies be done about how concussions might be linked to depression and/or suicide?

Someone shooting themselves in the chest while committing suicide is unusual. However, about 8 weeks I went on a suicide a suicide where a 25 y/o man shot himself in the chest. I don't know what Junior's motives were. I wish he hadn't done it. He had much to live for. That said, a note would have been helpful. My understanding is, Junior didn't leave a note. Most suicides that I have been on, there is a note.
