Starters: Carlino - Delgado - Haws - Collinsworth - Davies

2nd team: Cusick - Winder/Zylstra - Rogers - Ambrosino - Austin

Backups: Sharp, Harward

We have a very athletic first team with a good inside-outside game. The second team also appears to have more depth/experience than last year. Right now I like the way things are shaping up.

I bet we see Austin at the 5 and Davies at the 4.

And I have little confidence in Collinsworth returning.

Questions at this point are:

How quickly Haws recovers from his mission?

Will Collinsworth be healthy to play?

Will Rogers recover enough to play?

Will the JC recruits beat out old returning players for spots in the rotations?

To me the PG rotations is set with Carlino and Cusick.

I believe Winder and Delgado will split time at 2.

SF and PF are far more unsettled other Davies starting at the 4.

Haws, Zylstra and Rogers are natural 3's. But there isn't enough minutes to play all 3 at SF. I wonder if Ambrosino will beat out Collinsworth/Sharp for backup 4 time.

The 5 is going to be Austin starting with Davies sliding over and Harward with spot duty.

A lot depends on Collinsworth and Rogers getting better. Assuming all goes well here's what I'd like to see:

Starting

1 - Carlino - solid vision and ball handling. Should be a bit wiser and has the potential to light it up. Shooting should be better

2 - Delgado - decent outside shot. Supposedly a lock-defender, which we desperately need on the perimeter.

3 - Rogers - his length at 3 spot is a huge mismatch and plus for us. Rotates well in the zone. Outside threat. Slight ability to put it on the floor.

4 - Davies - Solid post up moves. Will be focal point of defenses. Should be better a recognizing double/triple teams.

5 - Austin - great hussle. Should be better down low. Nice touch from the outside, which creates mismatches. If he add a hook shot down low to his game, he'll be a force.

Bench

1 - Cusick - will give us solid ball handling. Should get a bit better at shooting.

2 - Winder - great defense. Hopefully his shooting will improve. All he needs to do is become a bit more consistent

3 - Ambrosido - like Rogers he has the length to create mismatches. My hope is he can shoot it better/more consistently than Zylstra. If he can, Zylstra shouldn't see any more than mop up duty. He'll come in in good shape.

4 - Collinsworth - It's been 4 years since he's played ball. I doubt he'll be to full form come Nov. Should provide some solid minutes off the bench.

5 - Harward - has the size. Redshirted last season so he should have his legs back.

Probably wondering why I don't have Haws in there somewhere. I'm assuming it will take him some time to get his legs back. Should Rogers' knee not progress and Haws bounce back well, you can substitute Haws for Rogers. Ambrosido will have a leg up as he's in shape, has experience and is ready to go. He's also a bit taller than Haws and likely has better defense, which I like. If Amrosido turns into a brick layer, Haws will likely be the backup 3.

Part of me wants to see Haws redshirt. Let him get his legs all the way back so we have hime for 3 full, good years. If Rogers and Collinsworth get healthy, I think we have the depth to redshirt Haws.

My responses based on my own uninformed opinions. He should have plenty of time, he's got almost eight months.

I don't think he will.

Maybe. I'm not holding my breath.

Agreed. With maybe some Brock and Haws sprinkled in as well. And we'll see some stretches of Cusick and Carlino on the floor together as well.

Yep.

According to Wrubbel interview with Rose, Collinsworth is now able to do full strength weight bearing workouts w/o any swelling or soreness. He will be doing full contact practices with the team at team speed. Rogers is more of the anomaly - will need additional surgery for full recovery. Apparently the re-injury in the SD game damaged the meniscus - so he has a greater set back than CC. Hopefully, he responds this summer. If not, red shirt. Haws reported back in good shape and Rose expects him to get his legs back with continued, focused hard work. Expectinally least two to be ready for fall ball.

Delgado running the point? I don't really know his skill set, but can he effectively play the one?

Agreed. Haws has plenty of time to get back into game shape. I'll be disappointed if he's not read to go full speed by November

He won't be an upgrade over Sophomore Carlino. Sophomore Carlino is going to be off the hook. Fits in really nicely the 2 though. We need some defense there.

Carlino / Cusick / Winder

Delgado / Haws / Winder

Rogers? / Haws / Zylstra / New dude from SLCC

Davies / Ccoll? / Sharp / Harward / New dude from SLCC

Austin / Harward / Ccoll / New dude from SLCC

Rogers will and should start if healthy.

Healthy ? marks about Rogers and Ccoll. Excited to get both of them back. Hope they can stay healthy.

I dropped 35 points in a church basketball game last year, what's your point? How does my church bball factor in? (If we are comparing two divisions of basketball that aren't even close to each other in competition, why not three?) ;)

That's alot like me, I consider an offensive rebound and putback from one of my shots to be the same as an assist...

When we start picking teams I sometimes joke "just need one, someone to inbound the ball to me". :P

pretty sure that Davies slides over to the 4, and Austin starts the 5 next year. Davies is a better 4 prospect than a 5 for the pros.

Based on what? Carlino loves to shoot the 3. Delgado has had a better assist-to-turnover rate post high school.
