Two athletic players that can play and defend multiple positions, hit the three and run the court very well. We just upgraded the team.

SG Raul Delgado

SF Augustin Ambrosido

The PF Ambrosino shot >40% from 3 last year? and so did Delgado.

9 ppg and 5 rpg at SLCC makes Ambrosino sound like a role player. Which is fine. We really needed more depth at the 4 and 5. I wonder how it is going to work if Rogers and Collinsworth actually stay healthy.

He does not sound impressive. Probable roal player.

If Ambrosio can defend I'll be happy to have him. BYU has plenty of guys who can run the floor and put up points. They need guys who understand lock down defense, help defense and rotating in the zone that Rose loves to run. This year that zone got all bent out of shape and allowed teams to penetrate to easily or shoot open 3s. Not quick enough, and not enough anticipation which is what I hope these two players bring to the team.

Our biggest weakness this year was defending the perimeter on the wing and on top - very slow to rotate and left too many gaps for wide open shots. IMO these two players help to address that issue as well as providing some long ball threats.

I also meant to include the fact that these 2 guys should help to improve our horrific 3 point shooting percentage which allowed defenses to double down on our bigs.

Brandon Gurney has noted the following about Ambrosino:

A great fit at BYU..very skilled in regards to ball-handling and with his shot.

According to his coach he was recruited heavily by both UNLV and Pepperdine and had attention from almost every WCC team. His stats didn't do him justice and that he really improved late in the season.

Still learning the American game as opposed to the European style.

Ambrosino has to be a better role player than Sharp!!!!! We need one more bruiser/rebounding machine at the 4 from the JC ranks. Ambrosino was kind of out of the blue. Any other guys like him out there??

Apparently Rose had been recruiting Ambrosino early on. Just waiting for opportunity to provide an offer.

While Cusick hasn't been granted the remaining scholarship, and Rose is stating that it is an on-going discussion that hasn't been decided, the coach indicated that there are several other players out there that they are evaluating. I believe that he keeps the recruiting status very close to his vest on certain players that are good but not getting a lot of attention in the press. That is why some of the recruits seem to appear out of the blue.
