Is the MTN dead? Please say yes

I was just browsing on twitter and someone said that the mtn was done....Anybody with any real info on that? I always hated the mtn because I couldn't get BYU games but it was a pretty good idea, just didn't get on Dish, which is what I needed. 8)

looks like the mtn only survived 11 months without BYU.

Wait a minute! I thought the MWC has more teams now. How could their television doohicky shut done?!?!

Sad that the leading edge concept of a conference having their own network failed because of bad decisions and failed gentlemanâs agreements. No one around here is going to be sad to see the mtn slip under the surface to the dark abyss of extinction, but the concept was daring and good in principle. It got caught in a power play with Comcast and the satellite companies, wounding it from the beginning. After we finally got it to DirecTV, I loved having the mtn to be able to watch the conference games. I missed it a lot this last BB season in not being able to hardly ever see the other games of the WCC. I ended up watching more games in the MWC than I did of the WCC because they were on and the others weren't. At the time the mtn emerged, ESPN was beginning to be a menacing bully and attempted to offer the MWC a contract that was less than what they had been earning before and the scheduling dates had turned very sour with possible games in FB during any of the days in the week. It's all really unfortunate, but in the autopsy of the network, there will be a lot of factors that attributed to its death, and I don't see how college sports are better for it to have happened.

- I just like someone that screwed BYU over time and time again get their come-uppance :)

I'm sorry, I didn't communicate my thought appropriately. I didn't have the opportunity to see OTHER conference games. Yes, BYU's was there. I'm talking about games like LMU vs. St. Mary's etc. that I would have liked to have seen.

I was happy to have been able to use my Slingbox to get the Mtn while I was stationed in England, and now that BYU is out of the MWC I don't really care what happens to the channel. I do agree that it was a pioneering idea that failed to gain the traction it needed to keep the conference together (money). Oh well.

And that other conferences have copied sucessfully. the problem is that the channel did not think as a parter but rather an overlord that eventually was overthrown.
