A new look for BYU at WR

JD Falslev used to fit the mold, but now he has become the exception.

This isn't the same old BYU receiving corps.

So this just means that BYU is finally catching up to where other top 30 programs were at WR 10-15 years ago.

We have a different twist with our new receivers: Ben Cahoon is the WR coach. He is a master at footwork, running precise routes, catching passes, and fundamentally knowing the plays so that there is no need to think - all reaction/adjustment - can runst full speed w/o uncertainty.



When you mix this tonic with speed,athleticism and height, it is difficult to stop. Note, we still have the slot back makeup like Cahoon with Falslev and Raymond.

I'm really big on Cahoon as a player, but there is never any guarantee that an elite player will be able to coach his skills to others effectively. That being said our oline is still my biggest concern. I think our front 7 on D can mask our annual weaknesses in the secondary enough to keep us in games. But we all wonder if Riley and the O can get it done against the good and great teams on our schedule. Id like to think that they have improved during the offseason.

That being said our oline is still my biggest concern. I think our front 7 on D can mask our annual weaknesses in the secondary enough to keep us in games. But we all wonder if Riley and the O can get it done against the good and great teams on our schedule. Id like to think that they have improved during the offseason.

The o-line was REALLY mediocre last year, I don't expect a huge drop off in production.

Coach to player doesn't always translate true, but last year Bronco said that Cahoon was by far our best route runner. Anytime there was something he needed to teach the guys, Cahoon would "lace on his cleats" and go show them. That right there is priceless.

Agree 100%. I also think that's what makes Bronco so effective as a DC. He climbs down into the trenches and shows the players what to do, and that he's willing to do it himself.
