WolverineIMHO Coach Rose does an outstanding job of putting together consistent winning seasons in a wonderful yet difficult environment when compared to the majority of other schools BYU has to compete with on a national level. This season I think has been one of the overall best jobs that he has done considering the following:
1. Lose what was arguably one of the best tandem backcourts in BYU history in Jimmer and Jackson
2. Lose the school's all-time leading scorer and steals leader in Jimmer and Jackson
3. Lose your top assistant and recruiter in Dave Rice (who by the way hasn't done too shabby for himself)
4. Incorporate a freshman redshirt point guard into your starting line-up a fourth of the way into your season (not just Carlino, but Winder for a spell as well)
5. Manage injuries that impacted greatly big plans for both Collinsworth and Rogers
6. Manage late season injury to the heart and soul of your team in Hartsock
7. Manage all of the unknown that came with a change in conference afilliation...travel plans, new venues, lack of familiarity with coaches, systems, and personnel, and especially lack of familiarity with WCC officiating
8. Managing the coming and going of missionaries and integrating them back into the program and still manage the consistent 25 wins (Kyle Collinsworth gone this year, Tyler Haws back in next season. Can't be easy).
I am sure that many of you could add your thoughts to this list. 25-7 at this point where a win tonight probably eliminates any talk of "on the bubble". As a hardcore Cougar basketball fan I am thankful for the outstanding job done this year by coaches and players alike. GO COUGARS!
