ESPN's Eamonn Brennan release his latest update. BYU continues in the Work Left To Do category:



Brigham Young [23-6 (11-3), RPI: 47, SOS: 114] BYU's five-game winning streak began with a Feb. 2 win over Gonzaga. This week, the Cougars get a chance to bookend this timely WCC run in perfectly symmetrical fashion: at Gonzaga. If Dave Rose's team can somehow take down the Zags in Spokane, it'll add a second top-25 RPI victory (and a road one to boot) to its otherwise so-so resume, which would also boast a 12-3 road record and a game's advantage in the WCC. It isn't necessarily a must-win sort of deal, but it would help BYU's case look a lot less specious.



SMC and GU still locks. MWC has moved 3rd team, NM, to locked-in category.

I liked his one comment about the PAC12:



"...even Cal, with its top-30 RPI and consistent, solid performance in conference play, doesn't have a top-50 win to its name, because the only top-50 win this conference got before it started Pac-12 play came versus shaky Colorado State (by Stanford).



He has the whole conference listed in the Work Left To Do category, but also eludes as if they could yet end up with as many as 3 bids.

And UNM (22-5) loses to CSU, good thing they're a "lock"... :roll: I love and hate this game with who's in and who's out, who's on the bubble and who's not.

What is totally wild to me is how back in our MWC days we used to fret our inter-conference competition as we seemed to cannibalize one another--the exact situation that the PAC12 is experiencing this season as Brennan noted that since the PAC12's non-conference schedule only included one win over a top-50 RPI program (Stanford beating CSU), then their wins against each other bring them no higher. Just look at the RPI's through the MWC this season. They're getting the Big East bounce in not falling as they beat one another. We are not enjoying that environment in the WCC this season demonstrated by winning two games on the road last week and falling in RPI. Doesn't help that our non-conf opponets nearly all fell last week, but in seeing that happen again to our team it is deja vu. We always seem to be onthe negative side of that situation.

Looks like the loss of Utah helped the MWC more than the loss of BYU hurt them.

We should make sure the Puke fans around us, those those living in Utah, know that we have it from official sources that they (MWC) appreciate them having left the conference as their RPI went up as a consequence. Oh, you have to love seeing things like that happening.
