From a Longhorn, QB question.

Howdy! Don't mean to be trollin. Just looking at the Horns future schedules and got me wondering, who will be your QB in 2013 when we come to Provo? Still hoping to take my family out there to see the game. Noticed your current QB is a senor I think, right? What happened to Heaps, I thought he did pretty well against us this year during that f@#$% nail biter.



Thanks and hope you guys get into the Big12 someday. Honestly, I haven't heard to much about your status in and around Austin.

Our Qb in 2013 will either be a redshirt Sr. named Jason Munns, or a Redshirt Freshman named Taysom Hill. Both have a lot of talent. Munns is a stand in the pocket drop back passer and Hill is a mobile QB.



As far as heaps, his inconsistancies and lack of accuracy got him beat out by Riley Nelson who is our Sr. starter for 2012. He decided that instead of working harder and redshirting in 2012 then starting for 2 years he would rather cut and run. He transferred to Kansas. I wouldn't worry too much about it though, I doubt you will have to play against him.

I think most people suspect that Taysom Hill will start. He is a great athlete who can throw the ball. Originally commit to Stanford, went on an LDS mission, then transferred to BYU without ever enrolling at Stanford. He was a Harbaugh commit, so that could have been a factor.



I also suspect that he will be a sophomore in 2013, not a RS frosh. I think BYU will play him in 2012 to get him game experience so he is ready for 2013. He won;t play much, but enough to get some reps and have a little seasoning.

Hookem, as nice a guy as you have been, I'm sure that if you make it out to the game that many of the CougarCorner faithful would be glad to invite you and your family to some of the get-togethers they have prior to the game. Besides, anyone named Steven has got to be good as gold in my book!

Hey, thanks for the invite! If you don't mind hanging out with a family wearing all burnt orange than that sounds good to me! Need to keep that in mind as that day/night gets closer.

We are going to take a page out of your book.



We will start the game with a big, pure drop back passer (Munns), but send him to the bench later a in favor of a sophomore-freshman (Olsen-Hill) combo rotating to keep you off balance and score just enough points to win.



This is intended as a joke, but may just be what happens. It is anyone's guess right now.

What they are all saying is that with Heaps transferred, we are left with a big hole to fill quickly when Riley Nelson is done. We just hope Riley gets all the way through 2012 without injury since he missed 10 games or so in 2010 after splitting starter reps with Heaps for two games and 1/4 of game 3 and then missed another couple of games in 2011. He replaced Heaps after about 4 3/4 games and led a miraculous comeback that saved us from losing to Utah State for the 2 ND year in a row. He took over as starter until injured. Heaps finished that game and started another game or two and then Nelson was able to take back over.



Most of us believe that had BYU coaches had the vision and wisdom to make a 2nd half change vs Texas like Texas made, the team would have rallied enough to pull out a narrow victory.



Easy to speculate and impossible to validate.
