Talking about our NCAA destiny.



We're in...

1) we win the WCC tournament

2) we win out regular season giving us 2nd place and beat Gonzaga, LMU or USF in semi-final game (losing the championship).



We're probably in...

1) we win out the regular season (25-6). Lose semi-final game.



We're maybe in...

1) lose to Gonzaga in regular season and beat them to make it to championship game.



We're probably out...

1) we lose any other remaining game, except to Gonzaga or whoever is in the championship game.



Does anyone see any other plausible possibilities?

I think we need 25 wins.



I don't think we make it in with 24 wins given we haven't beaten anyone of note.

Please don't lose on the road at san Francisco.

Why does everyone keep saying this? Gongaza is #24 on both polls.



And while they're not necessarily "of note," we do have 2 wins over two conference leaders (Weber and Nevada). I could see Oregon somehow getting to the dance as well.

BYU is in unless they lose to someone other than SMC or Gonzaga. It is that simple.



You could try to make it more compicated, but then it gets absurd, but yes if we beat Gonzaga twice and SMC in the WCC CHampionship game after dropping one of two games we should not have lost - we are probably still in. But that ain't gonna happen - so stick with simple. If we are good enough to beat the Zig Zags twice and SMC - we are not bad enough to lose one of the other games.



Win the games we are supposed to win the rest of the way and we are in. That would be about 26 wins. There will not be any 26 win teams left out of the dance.

Yes we are in if we win the rest of the games on the schedule that don't include GU later this year and either of the big boys in the conference tourney.

I would venture to say that if we don't beat GU in either game, which would mean that we finished 3rd in WCC and won our first tourney game, that we're out unless there are absolutely no surprise conference tourney winners (say a Wyoming or such school pulls off an tourney upset).

I am normally such a realist that some fans thing I am a pessimist.



Having said that - as long as BYU does not lose to anyone not named Gonzaga or SMC, they will squeak in. Bank on it.

LMU just handed SMU their first home lost. The situation for first place is now quite static and there is no clear cut favorite to win the WCC tournament. LMU appears to be the hottest team right now and has thrown everything into a scramble.

Huge props to LMU. They went 7-1 on the road in a very tough league.

That is impressive. LMU loses Viney after this season, but Ireland is a sophomore.



Here's a interesting question. Which do you think is the better PG: Dellawhatever or Ireland. I'm going with Ireland.



Here's another thought. Say BYU actually wins out the rest of the season and makes it to the championship game versus...LMU and not SMC or GU. It's a real possibility. Say we lose the championship game to LMU, who goes dancing other than LMU?



In such a scenario I think SMC will have to have beaten Murray St. on the road to land the at large bid. I don't think in such a scenario BYU gets an at large bid unless we beat SMC to get to the WCC championship. GU would likely be out.
