CougarClaw1) assuming they represent the entire fan base. I think we all do this at some point. It's hard to run with a bunch of BYU supporters and not think there's a wide enough sample to represent.
2) everyone is as rational as you are. I know a rabid BYU fan. he participates on boards (not this one). he's very vocal and passionate. he's also a Sexual harassment lawsuit waiting to happen. He's crass, rude, has no social awareness whatsoever and was recently kicked out of his singles ward at the request of multiple offended sisters. yes folks. I have to remind myself that it's people like this that I sometimes find myself disagreeing with.
3) anonymity. Even though I've met a few of you when I was still in utah, I enjoy it and never sign my name. I'm sure many of you do as well but it certainly leads to more...um...dynamic conversations and accusations then you ever would have to deal with in person. Few people have the balls to call you a moron to your face in a real discussion. but name calling is fairly prevalent online
4) Post count. Why does having a huge number of posts (or the old karma system) next to your name give you any additional weight or prestige on a board? Shouldn't post count be a detriment since it clearly proves you spend too much time online?
