Maybe run out of Springville High for going 3-8.



The timing has to be a coincidence - right?

SPRINGVILLE — Scott Mitchell has resigned as head football coach at Springville High School, according to a Friday press release.



"The administration and athletic department of Springville High School would like to thank Coach Mitchell for his outstanding service to the school and community," the release said. "He has and will continue to be an important part of the Red Devil family."



Applications for the vacancy need to be posted through the Nebo School District website. The deadline is Feb. 15.

I don't know how many of you have been to Springville in the past 15 or so years, but that's definitely NOT a job that I would be applying for.

He was probably the first and only big-time LDS QB recruit that ever chose U over Y in modern history if not all time. I forget where he played in the NFL - maybe Detroit. Lefty iirc. Maybe with Nua leaving and Morris rumored to switch as a GA to defense, Bronco could use a lefty GA NFL QB who lives locally to help Doman.



I can't imagine such a thing - but the timing is interesting.



As Head Coach, He led Springville to State Championship game in 2009 but lost, Semi-finals in 2010, but a losing season this year.

I hope it doesn't crowd out all of the other fascinating threads lately. But if you feel this is not relevant - it is about as relevant or irrelevant as Manti Teo posts that show up here on occasion at the least albeit more dated.



I take it by your comment that you believe the timing of this resignation and the potential need for a GA at BYU that just popped is indeed coincidental.



And try not to go off on how there is no way a former U player or coach will ever be at BYU because that and worse has happened before. Chow played at U. Lavell played at USU. Iirc, Fred Whittingham might have coached for both. And a ton of Y guys coach at U. We could tolerate a token Ute if he has repented.

I've heard rumors that Utah hasn't wanted to announce their new OC, because it's not going to be Aron Roderick. He's their best recruiter and wanted to make sure he brings in all the guys he's supposed to before the news is broken that he's been passed over again.
