Big 12 Discussing adding 2 more teams

Appears the two possible teams are Louisville and BYU. Considering academics, fan base and TV coverage. Don't see how UL beats the Y in any of those categories.

I hope they are discussing and I hope the tv rights crap gets worked out, byu gets an offer, and byu accepts that offer. I am liking indy less and less every day.

Hmmm. and the guy just happens to include TV partner as having sway in the discussion. "and that our television network partners think are additive to our conference".



ESPN (tier 1) might be okay with us but Fox (tier 2) seems to hate us so they could throw a monkey wrench into the whole process.

Seconded.

As long as Fox has TV rights BYU will not enter the big boy discussions.

All the article stated was that BYU could be considered. That is it. No quotes from anyone involved withe B12 or BYU. So in other words, all just speculation at this point about BYU.

Tough to get excited about speculation, especially after what happened last time.

I won't believe anything about the Big 12, until Tom steps up to a microphone on TV and announces that it is official (and the Big 12 commish is standing next to him).



We all got way too caught up in it last year, just like the Heap's hype, let's learn from our stupid mistakes and move forward :)

All I have to do is remember the mtn. and I feel a lot better about life as a BYU fan. OR I could remind myself how often I've seen utah recently on national tv.

Lingo, with all due respect, quoting from cougarboard is about as worthless a just about anything Barack promises. I go to their front page to find out the rumors and then come here to learn the truth. On rare occassions I'm disappointed that rumors are perpetuated here at CC but I'm equally rarely surprised when something that is "called" on cougarboard actually happens.

In the B12 meeting today, Commisioner Chuck Neinas said they are staying at 10 for 2012-2013, which was common knowledge. However, he is not on the expansion committee. KU insider states that Louisville (#11) will receive a Big XII invite in April. KU's AD stated in a radio interview 2 days ago that there are at least 5 B12 teams that strongly want expansion to 12 teams: OU, KU, KSU, ISU and WVU.



I believe that it is between BYU and Rutgers for the 12th spot.

Beg to differ. I am liking independence more and more every day. It is where BYU will be, and should be for a long time. I'm not sure what you're disliking about independence, I don't see many negatives, and a lot of positives.



I do not believe BYU will sell its soul to any conference ever again, and no conference is going to give BYU what it gets from independence. I'm not sure why some of you are so gaga over joining the Big-12. For what? why? simply to be in a BCS conference? That's way down the list for me on priorities.

Still, BYU as a top contender is still merely speculation...

Most of the games are boring. It's that simple. But hey I enjoy being able to watch every single one of them. But I can only handle so many Idaho States in one season before it truly does become meaningless. I'll take a few games every year that I have to either pay for or pirate feed, which are vs Big 12 teams over what we are currently doing.

If you think that BYU is not at least talking, you are a fool. Whether they move or not is the question. Sunday play is a deal breaker, nothing else is.



Been told that TH/BM or firmly on the side of joining, along with DR and others, but the admin/BoT were not sold on it last go round. But perhaps with Navy joining the BE, Army looking like it might as well, the P12 scheduling issues, the B10/P12 scheduling alliance and other BCS changes, the landscape has changed enough to show the future scheduling of meaningful games will be extremely difficult for BYU due to our location. WE are isolated in many respects that way.



Question is if it is enough for the BoT to be willing to make changes for 2013, 2014 or later. But believe me, BYU will be involved. They are proactive.
