Bracketology Jan.16

Lunardi has BYU as one of the last 4 in and in the 12 seed vs 12 seed play-in game against the Cincinnatti Bear"thugs", with the winner to get 5 seed SDSU in Portland. That would be an interesting scenario, but one that I don't think will come to pass. I for one hope the Cougs play the rest of their games as if they are one of the last 4 to get in. A lot of season still to play out. St. Mary's and Gonzaga both projected as 5 seeds. MWC projected at this time to get 4 teams in as Colorado State joins UNLV, SDSU, and New Mexico. Don't see it happening for the Rams, though I really like Coach Miles and would like to see it happen at the expense of either UNLV or UNM. :) GO COUGARS!

He is right for now. Once we beat SMC and Gonzaga at home and maybe get them in WCC tourney the brackets will change.

This is where the WCC hurts us. On Jan. 3rd, we were a 9 seed and rising. Since then, we have gone 3-0, averaged 83 points, had a 16.7 point average margin of victory, and yet now find ourselves as "last 4 in".

That was my exact reaction as I read that we have now slipped to such a position while continuing to win our games.

I don't get this at all.



Our team leads the WCC in most categories, yet we're projected at a 12 seed? Lame...



SMC is good but they haven't beaten anyone on the road.



We need to take of home court, beat Virginia Tech and hopefully cut out a win against Gonzaga.

BYU: RPI 42, SOS 64. Projected RPI 34. Sagarin Predictor 18. KenPom 20.

SDSU: RPI 37, SOS 114. Projected RPI 37. Sagarin Predictor 66. KenPom 70.

Perhaps BYU should be a 5-seed, and SDSU shouldn't be dancing at all...



CSU has a Sagarin Predictor of 92, and a KenPom of 102. They should NOT be in the NCAA Tourny.

SDSU departure from the MWC will affect that love next season.



Would have been enjoyable to have seen SDSU join the WCC instead of the Big West. Add UNLV to the conference and BYU/Gonzaga/SDSU/SMC/UNLV would be a fun conference for BB.

They also have an RPI of 22, and an even better SOS. Wins over Colorado and Denver, no bad losses. I think the MWC has some street cred this year, where every team will get more credit than they deserve. I just hope that they really cannibalize each other in conference. UNLV is the only great team this year.

I don't get the MWC love-fest this season. Especially since at least a 1/3 of MWC's success came off of our backs. MWC without BYU a four bid conference? No way! :skeptic:



CSU doesn't belong in the dance and I am doubtful UNM belongs there as well. UNLV is legit. SDSU is alright.



Pac12 is down...way down...and the pundits are reluctant to give too much notice to the WCC, so when it comes to Wes Coast ball they chalk up the MWC. Never mind it lost one of its best teams.
