Norm Chow Honeymoon - How Long Will It Last?

Announced his new coaching staff - Newspaper cover story on Thursday - Governor Ambercrombie in tow - My son's English teacher was there (Norm's daughter) - packed house - all positive reviews - big excitement - allowed to spend big bucks for a Defensive Coordinator by UH standards $200K. Uperesa. Tommy Lee. Everyone excited.



Today - headlines is that players are gushing after first team meeting.



Supposedly Chow does not have Media skills. That is not showing yet. He and the Governor were on tv all night joking that the Governor was a candidate for DC because the Governor has been on the defense ever since being elected.



Everyone is giddy.



How long will it last before defensiveness or arrogance pops out? How long before fans start calling for his head or saying he is too predictable or over the hill?

I for one hope it lasts quite a while and that UH wins every game against a team not named BYU!!!

It's Hawaii. I can honestly say that I do not care either way. But I suspect he will as successful as his recruiting allows.

More than a year. He'll get a free pass for the first year (he's earned it) and if he keeps on winning he can be a surley as he wants.

It will last longer then his honeymoon would have lasted if he were hired as HC to replace crowton since it took our "fans" less then one game to boo Bronco.

Good luck or whatever to Chow. I'm glad he's getting his chance. Hope he loses to BYU, don't care about his honeymoon or anything else so no vote.

The right question is, How long will it take for anybody not on the islands to hear about the honeymoon being over? Who cares. Although I do wish him "da bes".

Keeping in mind that Bronco recently commented about creating a new rivalry with Hawaii and we do recruit against them and they are coming to Provo next year and on the docket for about a decade - thought BYU fans would find it interesting how huge the Chow thing is out here.



Does the Governor in Utah go live with new Utah or BYU coaches?



Anyway - Chow and others on this staff are BYU guys.



Even my wife - not a sports fan - has started to take interest in UH as they had an LDS Head Volkeyball coach from the Manoa Ward that we knew when we first moved here, Gib Arnold who was in her sister's ward near Malibu before coming here coaching basketball and now Chow whose daughter taught English at my kid's school.



A bit ironic that the two teams that hated BYU most over the years, U and UH keep going for BYU players and coaches to staff their coaching ranks.



Rumors today that Crowton is interviewing at U.



I like the idea that former BYU guys are able to have success after they move on. BYU can only hire a few.

The poly connection/recruiting battle just intensified with his hire at UH. This will be a very intense rivalry for us as long as Chow is at the helm.
