B12 Rumors popping up

I was reading over on rumorboard that the B12 rumors are starting to heat up again. From what I gathered these rumors are stemming from ESPN's desire to renegotiate the TV contract with the B12. I am a little burned out on all the rumors, but thought I would see what people thought.

Believe nothing.

Go head and believe that ESPN is wanting to speed up the negotiations with the Big XII. It makes sense for them to now, rather than wait because they can probably save themselves some money by doing it now, but sweeten it up for the B12. I think this is happening.



I also think that ESPN is talking to the B12 about going to 12 for 2 very specific reasons:

1)increases the catalog of games that ESPN can choose to broadcast, and we all know that ESPN wants content for its 6 platforms(including ABC). More games equals more $$$ or Big XII. The PAC deal shows this.

2)They want a conference title game to be able to broadcast again. These games make good $$$ for ESPN.



Word is that ESPN might also be in negotiations to buy out FOX secondary rights, so ESPN would hold primary and secondary rights for the B12. IF true, that makes things really interesting. Not just for football, either. All sports.



As to BYU fits into those discussions is to be seen. Based upon how things happened last time around, I would say it is still 2014 at the soonest. But ESPN buys all rights to B12, it makes it more likely, not less. But I still will not buy into anything until any announcement this time around.

Finally something to take our minds off Jake Heaps. Wait - if we get in the Big 12 - we get to play Kansas - right?

Like Hawkwing said, I will believe it when I see it. From what I saw last fall, the Big 12 went out of their way to invite teams other then BYU when BYU was sitting here ready to negotiate. I don't think they want us.

I like hearing the rumors.

besides...we don't want to be BLINDSIDED by a Big-12 invite do we? how awful would that be. We simply wouldn't be prepared! the horror!

Well my sources say they were waiting for the season to end so that they could focus on keeping the hype up all off season. ;-)

So if We go to the Big XII in 2014 would Jake have to sit out another year since it would become an in-conference transfer? :P

Believe nothing......especially when the best corroboration you can get of rumors is "it makes sense because..." followed by all sorts of armchair AD hypothesizing.

It Makes Sense Because SEC and ACC set the new bar at 14 team conferences - so Big 12-2 needs Louisville, Cinci, plus 2 more to compete. And Big 10+2 needs 2 more. And PAC 10+2, not wanting to be tinier, needs 2 more. When all of that dust settles, BEAST WEST NORTH SOUTH will probably need 8 more.



It only makes sense that they will all be fighting over BYU. Inside sources tell me this is why AFA and BYU sat back and waited.

A short tale about a "crock-of-crap."

Shouldn't people be using "outside source" instead of "inside source" since TH has been keeping this very close to the cuff? At least with this topic anyway. So, it should read, "My outside source who thinks he is an inside source..... Or, "My outside source who I like to treat as an inside source because he likes that, and in truth has no freakin clue, but it makes me sound good on rumor boards...."

And wouldn't classifying these "sources" as an "outside source" aptly and more accurately portray what they are and level the playing field that basically they, outside sources and "their little dogs too", are all crap?

Really people? lets get over our insider "bovine excrement", otherwise known and labeled from henceforth by myself as IBE. So it would sound like this, "According to my IBE, thus and such is about to happen." Or maybe it should be OBE (Outsider Bovine excrement)--to help differentiate from an IBE.

And one more thing. why do so many pluralize their source, suggesting that they have multiple or at least more than one outside source as though "representing" such suggests the poster has corroborated one IBE or OBE with another OBE. Isn't one piece of crap enough? Do we have to throw down multiple pieces of crap?

Think of the "truth to power" this site could generate if posters said something like, "According to one IBE and one OBE, which seems to corroborate my opinion/guess/lame-a opinion....." Or, "two IBE's close to me said...."

Maybe this would rule out an actual and true Inside source--since nobody has one. But thats ok, cause if you haven't got your info from the Almighty, CS or TH, then the info, judged on the crappy reliability that has been shown this past year on topics like this, on what is one of the more reputed or attempting to be reputed forums out there, is just crap, crap, and more crap. Thus, IBE and OBE or straight from the horse's mouth.

Be truthful Cougars! Be accurate Cougars! Maybe this site could adapt Spirit, Tradition, Honor and have as an aspiring tag line: Truth, Opinion, Crap. So, instead of saying "this political ad got 3 pinnochios" we could say, "this post got 3 pieces of crap."

That way each post could receive a rating. And let me be the first to say my post is crap. I waisted 10 minutes of my life, whining about posters crap. So if any of you made it this far through my crappy post, may I give you a Doogie Howser Salute and one more BIG12 load of crap as a reward. Crap on Cougs....just own it when you dealt it.

As to inside sources, that post was bogus. I actually have more than one I know personally. One is an associate AD, one a Big $$$ donor, and believe me, they know stuff. Sometimes they pass it on, sometimes they don't. As to expansion talks, my AD source gave me nada, but I go get recruiting or player info.



I do love how some people feel the need to take shots at info that gets passed on. Honestly, what is the harm? If you take it all to be the 100% truth--that is your problem. THat is all it is--info. Just take it all with a grain of salt, because it is not always correct in the end. But that does not make it false when it was uttered. Things change.



As to B12 talk, I know nada, and not claiming to. But a blanket statement saying that no one on this board knows anything makes no sense to me either.

My Bovine Excrement Resources - and like Lawboy, I sport several - Assoc AD, extended family of former BYU President, AD Employee, people who have close friends on the team, team members from my stake, and probably someone I forgot to mention - nobody told me anything either.

It took me so long to get to this point, I almost forgot my point



The BEASTWEST thing and the Conf USA - MWC thing have gone absolutely quiet as have the power struggles over when BEASTWEST and BIG 12 teams actually get to jump ship for their new conferences. With all of that silence - something has to be up somewhere.



But even if it is, TH explained that things change so fast that truth is fleeting.

Usually only "hit pigeons flutter". If you're not guilty, no need to take offense. I was poking fun at the real crap shooters. What would any forum be without truth, rumors, opinion, and crap.given that array, I would rate most info as having a one in four chance of being true. So, no I take things mostly with a bag of salt. :-)
