According to Sltrib article, GC is interviewing with KWhit and feels that he can bring a lot to the table with his experience at OR, LSU, BYU, MD and da Bears. Strange turn of fate if he gets the job and then gets to match wits against his former DC at BYU. Makes for an interesting plot.

As far as I know, Gary Crowton's offense has never been a problem for Bronco to stop. Bronco's defenses always dominated Crowton's scrimmages at BYU and look what Bronco's defense did to Crowton's offense in 2006 in the vegas bowl. I love Gary Crowton but if he gets the OC job at utah, it will be a happy day for BYU fans.

What is it, with Utah ALWAYS going after former Cougars? Freakin A man!

They're on their own now. They might change their freakin' name from Utes to whatever gay liberal concept they come up with. Sold their soul to the Devil! Grow a pair Utards!

My insiders sources say Crowton is really a BYU plant working to destroy the Yewties. he'll be bad, just not bad enough to be fired. and then make sure Utah loses all their important ones.

really.

Well, his offense is not too hard to defense. Keep throwing deep to open up the underneath stuff and when it opens up throw deep. Mix in a trick play here and there to confuse your offense and there ya go. Oh but make sure when you take over there are a bunch of seniors and most especially at QB.

What's funny is that I could actually see Whittingham being paranoid enough of this and not hire GC for that reason.

So does that mean the Yewts will now be referred to as that team up north or the team with no name?

Actually he was a Utah plant when he came to the Y and only could stick around for 3 years. He would be going home to the U. TIC

I could see GC getting hired, having a couple of great years, and then have a major decline, and then get fired. That seems to be his trend. His first year or two he has great offenses, but then he starts to struggle. I would not be surprised if he gets hired.

Whats his average tenure? 2 years? the dude is a hired gun that runs out of bullets after one year. which would be one year better than CHOW at Utah.

Let's see. Being as objective as possible,

LSU tried to prove that they could run their offense just fine without Crowton even though I am pretty sure they won the NC at least once with him there. Certainly played for it.

That was working, sort of, because the best offense is a great defense, until

Alabama.

And yes - Crowton was a disappointment wherever it was that he landed for a year.

He did OK with the Ducks for a while as well.

Now - if the U makes him HC someday - then it should bode well for BYU.

IDK why some fans feel the need to bag on guys like Chow and Crowton and Anae even after they are gone. Crowton makes most lists of accomplished OCs. Anae was retained at AZ after HC was fired iirc. Chow was a great OC.

Not sure any of them would prove to be a great HC. Time will tell.

cougarbib2. I agree with you.

Crowton was a good guy that let the BYU program get away from him and it cost him his job. I let it go a long time ago and he's had a lot more success at other schools.

I wish the guy well. It doesn't matter if he ends up in Utah, because utah is not going to be willing to play BYU anymore it sounds like.

Someone once said "it is better to have loved and lost than to have never loved at all." I just gotta say I loved being a cougar fan the entire first year of Crowton's time here. Yeah, he had to go, but dang it was fun that first year!
