Gonzaga @ St. Mary's

Since Gonzaga is more in a postion to cary this conference at this point in RPI, I'd select them, but really I have no feelings yet for either of the two, good or bad. More feelings of rivalry will develop over time to where we were in our last conferences and we had a history with those we played and we felt and remembered incidents like in yesterday's game where the USF coach uses all of his timeouts while they are in no position to come close to winning the game.

SMC--need to protect home court. If Gonz walks through the Çonf it weakens the top tier and lessens chance of 3 teams to the big dance

That's what I'm thinking. SMC winning gives WCC a better chance to be a 3 bid conference

I'm split; I think if SMC gets the win, then they gain a lot of momentum and may be hard to stop. If the Zags win, then they have a better chance to sweep SMC and win the conference outright.

I should probably change my vote as I picked the Zags, but realize now it would be "better" for the conference if SMC won.



I voted Zags because I like the idea of SMC eating some humble pie. Reading their fan board (note, it's only one fan board :D ) makes me want them somewhat dependant on BYU knocking Gonzaga off. If Gonzaga wins, only realy chance of SMC winning the title or once again coming in 2nd place would be if BYU sweaps Gonzaga.

Zags are 8-3 at SMC since 2000-01. The Gaels only win in the Bennett era in Spokane was last year,



Zags are good enough to escape Moraga on Thursday with a win.



BYU is a tougher match-up for the Zags than the Gaels.



Go!! Zags!!!

Since we don't have Utah in our conference, St. Mary's is my current favorite-to-hate conference team based on one thing alone: their "honor code!" chant while Davies was shooting his free throws. Classless. Dorks.



And since I want us to win out, and win the conference tourney, I don't really care how the the 2nd and 3rd team end up in their head to heads.

Really...hasn't he gotten that at every school? Not like St. Mary's has been the only school to say something to him. The basketball team knows the whole story, I'm not sure how much of the student body does. I'd say that was pretty tame considering what they could say.

For a bunch of religious schools, they don't really support (or maybe just don't understand) the idea of redemption/forgiveness. You'd think they'd want to applaud him for supposedly overcoming mistakes. Oh well, still haven't seen anything close to The classlessness of the Angie's (auto corrected from Aggies), Aztecs, utes, lobos and rebel. I'm sure it's old news for Davies by now.

"No means no" alludes to rape. It hints that Brandon didn't want to take no for an answer. Sorry, try to spin it anyway you want, but they were essentially calling Davies a criminal.

I hadn't noticed it at the other schools; but I guess when there are only about 200 fans there, they may not be that loud. I do agree that the Aggies are the worst. I had the mistaken hope that the small religious schools would have classy fans. At the same time, I realize I should not judge the entire school or fanbase off of what 25 loud fans might be shouting.



Still. . I want the Zags to beat 'em.

I know what it means. I was saying I think they were referring to a different meaning. The basketball team knows the WHOLE story, I don't know how much of the students that where chanting it know. They should know that's not what happened, he wasn't charged with anything, although I feel the way he behaved was criminal. You are free to assume I'm trying to spin something. I know what happened. I don't have to try and make it anything other than it is.

You're a joke if you think Davies was behaving like a criminal. To try and equate the honor code and its enforcement to legal standing is asinine.



Who cares how much the students chanting it knew? They know what "No means no" means. They know it refers to rape. It's inexcusable. It's in very poor taste.

I know you love the cute little story that you think is what happened.



Why does everyone resort to name calling and bashing people when they don't agree with something. I think it is the weirdest thing. I have seen it on all message boards. This is actually very tame compared to what I have been called. I guess it's what you can get away with when you aren't face to face and have no accountability. It's amazing how people are willing to defend a story that they don't even know, to the point of being so completely rude to someone.

Have you told Brandon Davies he's a criminal?
