A nine seed. Which I would happily take right now, with no huge signature wins. Also love how we are trending upwards, think that is a good sign of national perception and feelings. Hope we can go on a tear in conference and build some big momentum for the end of season.

Appreciate the info being noted, but it's difficult to even think much about it until we are further down the road and can see who we are. As we were with FB this season, we are not doing really well against the higher end opponent.

Yes of course--early for every team. but, I have to think that a 9 is a positive nod to Rose and the program he is building year-over-year. Not completely unwarranted given where the team is at right now, but for all those times we've complained about not getting any love, this is an instance where we are getting some benefit of the doubt.

A 9 seed would put us at about 36 best in the country. BYU is 19th in Sagarin's Predictor Rankings, and 18th in KenPom's overall efficiency Ratings. Which would both suggest a 5-seed.

Xavier in Pittsburg. I guess Columbus was too obvious. How about we get Xavier in Albuquerque? Turnabout is fair play I say. I'm sure this isn't even close to how the tourney ends up but just to see this boils me from the last time we got hosed by the committee.

Ah, the BYU bball curse...hopefully we've casted that myth aside come season end. Or perhaps it's just another curse we have to deal with now--missing players at key times during the season.



Rogers was out for the most important stretch of our season--vs. Baylor and @ St. Mary's. I have zero doubt we at least split those games if he is not injured. Oh well, let's get this kind of crap out of the way early this year and make some noise in the dance!

Three teams in the dance from the WCC and none less than a 9 seed is good. Pac12 needs to stay at a two-bid conference and would be nice if New Mexico slips so the MWC becomes a 2-bid conference as well. Give the WCC some more wiggle room.



I'll take a 9 seed at this point. We have potential, but that potential has yet to play an entire 40 min of basketball. If we get a 7 or above this season, I'll be ecstatic.

There is no doubt that the Cougars are improving daily and should not have trouble with Gonzaga and St Marys at home. Don't forget, however, that you have to win the WCC Tournament to be guaranteed a spot. East Coast bias has frequently led to a one or two team selection when more were warranted.

Totally agree. Which is why we need it to be close among SMC, Gonzaga, and BYU and we need the MWC to slip to a two bid conference. SDSU and UNM dropping some games to CSU, TCU or AF would be great for us.
