Lone Peak has gone toe to toe with one of the better teams in the country despite having no size to match up with them . The #1 team in the country Simeon (with our guy Jabari Parker) only beat Whitney by 7.



The future is ridiculously bright; Lone Peak had no business being in this game yet Emery and Haws are just that clutch.

Just to give you an idea of what Lone Peak beat last night. Without 6'9" Eric Mika playing due to ushaa transfer rules, Lone Peak really has no one bigger than 6'4" yet they beat one of the best teams in the country who were loaded with Big East and Big 10 recruits.

Wow I couldn't get the archived games to work but I plan on watching that game tonight. That's an amazing win.

It's not easy to navigate, but if you search hard enough you can actually watch archives of all of Lone Peaks games. I've already seen the Whitney game and honestly I see Nick Emery as a Fredette clone. Just as much range, and maybe even stronger at that age. TJ Haws reminds me of Lee Cummard with a more consistent outside shot... and he's only a soph.



They play Milton, Georgia tonight in the championship game.

Milton beat Oak Hill academy last year on ESPN when Oak Hill was #1. Oak Hill dominated DeMarcus Harrisons team last year.



Milton doesn't have the trees that Whitney has, but Lone Peak has got to be tired after 3 days of games and a double overtime last night. I don't think Lone Peak can keep this up, but Emery and Haws have already proven that they can play with anyone in the country (and TJ is only a soph and Nick a junior)....



Hopefully Jabari Parker is paying attention,



Once Lone Peak gets 6'9" Eric Mika next year, they might be the best prep team in the country.



Conner Toolson and Zach Frampton are going to get better too. If these guys all hit the weight room and get stronger, I don't think anyone can beat them once Mika is eligible.

Maybe I/m late to the analysis or its on another thread. Im sure there are others I don't know about. BUt this gets very exciting. Too bad TJ couldn't grad early and play with Jabari and this group, assuming JP is one and done.

Looks like Milton, GA has at least 4 top 100 players . I saw they had the #21 and #27 ranked players in the country, both small forwards. I am really interested to see how this game turns out. The only game I have seen LP play was the Orem game and Emery just had an off game, but Haws played really well.

And there was some Homecourt homecookin by the refs. I'm from orem so i think that gives me a little room to speak.

Whitney Young has at least one very highly sought after recruit--6'10" Soph, Jahlil Okafor (don't know his # in the tops 100). Here's the link. He's been seen with Jabari at times. Being recruited by everybody. HIs favs are Duke, Arizona, MichSt.



So for LP to beat that team--I didn't see the game last night--is quite frankly, amazing. That Okafor has got to be even higher recruit than Jabari, my guess.

Whitney has 3 guys with Big East or Big 10 offers and 2 more with offers from DePaul.



Miltons best players graduated last year (they beat #1 Oak Hill last year), but they were still good enough to beat Bishop Gorman yesterday; who held the #1 ranking in the prep rankings for a while. The #1 recruit in the country, Shabazz Muhummed plays for Gorman. Gorman should be well known to BYU fans, Anson Winder and Michael Lloyd played there and Dave Rices brother coaches there.



I don't expect Lone Peak to win tonight; they've overcome so much already and they have to be tired from last night.



How a team with nobody taller than 6'4" beat a team with 3 5 star guys over 6'9" (one being 6'11") is a complete mystery. I would have bet my house that Whitney would have won simply based on their size.

I'm ridiculously high on the future of the basketball program. These kids are amazing.

6'10" Chris Collinsworth will be a senior (provided he gets healthy and back in shape he'll be very good)

6'7" Josh Sharp will be a junior, he's going to be a good garbage man by the time he's a junior

6'11" Nate Austin will be a junior (fiery competitor that can shoot; he just needs to put on 25 lbs of muscle)

6'11" Ian Harward will be a soph (can run the floor really well, really smart player)

6'10" Boswell will be a soph (on academic scholarship)

6'11" Isaac Nielson will be a freshman (I think he'll be the best BYU center since Araujo by the time he's a senior)

6'9" Eric Mika will be a freshman



Cory Calvert and Jordan Chatman will be on missions





Jordan Loveridge needs to get his head out of his rear and get out of his letter to Utah and come to the promised land; then we're talking about a final four caliber team in Parkers sophomore year... but we'd have to make room for him by asking Nick Martineau to hit the road and Mika might be asked to go on his mission prior to enrolling.

No fixing required... even if Collinsworth doesn't make it back this season , he still has 2 more to go and he's still 6'10"



I believe you're wrong on both. Boswell is a pretty skilled guy that came to BYU because they have such good medical school placement, he had some D1 offers, from Portland etc.



Collinsworth does not and has not had any career ending/ defining knee injury, just little stuff that has been a nagging problem.



I think when guys aren't in the spotlight, people tend to write them off. I'll bet there are two dozen posts last year from giys that thought that Winder was a waste of space, in spite of not seeing him play until this year.



Collinsworth and Boswell will contribute in the future.

I don't think Collinsworth comes back. Maybe next year, but I'll be very surprised.



As for Bowell, he's not on the roster. Maybe he's a practice player like Cusick last year. But hard to count on guys who aren't on the roster but possibly should be.

Boswell wanted to concentrate on academics this year since he wasn't needed and isn't on scholarship for hoops (try getting into a good med school without great undergrad grades). Trust me, he'll be back. He could have gone to any IVY league school etc but chose BYU because he could play hoops, get the LDS experience and still get a great pre-med education. He practices with the team off and on and was at every practice in the preseason.



Collinsworth will be fine; the team and docs are just being really patient because they quite possibly rushed him the last time he was having some issues.
