What happened to Ross?

I missed the game and see that he had a -11 yards rushing but no receptions? How is that possible?



Did he get hurt?

He played - I'd blame Riley before Ross. Pretty much anyone not named Cody Hoffman struggled to catch the ball today.

Passes by Riley were off today. Had Riley been a bit more on the money Apo would have had a nice TD.

More precisely and perhaps more balanced, Ross tried an end-around and took the 11 yard loss. Tulsa was too fast for BYU. Bad play call. Coaches were not prepared to deal with Tulsa speed. They seemed as fast or faster than TCU.



According to announcers, Ross quit on a deep route when Riley was looking to the other side and thus when Riley checked back to that side and threw, Ross could not get to it.



We were mostly ineffective running including Nelson although his 4th down scramble and fake spike as time was running out won the game that was gift-wrapped for him by D, ST, and Tulsa fumbling a punt that should nit have been fielded. Attempts to run wide were generally futile except one short-yardage situation where nobody expected Kariya to go a little wide.



Having said all of that, Nelson was inaccurate most of the game. Made some of us wonder if he was injured.



Pass protection was spotty at best.



The defense did it's usual deal where it was not prepared on the first drive, gave up a pretty easy TD, made adjustments and was nails after that except Tulsa was able to pick on Eason with height mismatch for a couple of big gainers.



Special teams was money almost in every aspect the entire game.

On that pass it was a stop and go (could only see part of the route as it was on the edge of the screen). Hard to say he quit.

It was a stop and go - announcers said he hesitated on the go until Riley looked back that way. IDK. You could not see it on replay. Their comment was based on what they saw live.



Generally, Apo and Hoff were not able to leap and manhandle those Corners. As someone posted, we need a tight end or two. Falslev was money early, but they took that away or we went away. Jacobsen was money twice but did get an illegal blocking penalty.

How about Ross is just not as good as some of us would like him to be? The dude is not that fast and he doesn't have the toughness to go get the ball. He has hauled in a good number of TD's this season, but he is pretty much invisible outside the red zone. But hey he's got 3 more years...we all hope gets to be Hoffman-like. We need a TE to step up more than anything.

I don't think it was so much observation as bias of the announcer (ware) regarding the overthrow of Apo. As a QB i think he tended to blame the overthrow on the receiver instead of the QB just because it's his mindset. There really isn't a reason for Apo to slow up his route due to where Nelson is looking.
