2013 - Aofaga Wily - RB

Junior running back Aofaga Wily plays for the Kahuku Red Raiders who beat Punahou 30-24 for their fourth Division 1 state title and sixth HHSAA championship overall. Comes from a team with a winning tradition, and the kid can run and dish out punishment upon contact. Reminds me of Harvey Unga except maybe faster.



He is interested in playing for the Y. Any word on an offer and the Y's level of interest?

An interesting thing about this kid is that he missed 6 of their games with limited attempts in a few others and still finished second in the state in rushing with over 1300 yards. The reason he missed was because he has been running all year on a knee with torn ligament.



This kid reminds me of Alisa. Tall with a thinner than Harvey build but still pretty muscular. He is a workhorse and seems to always end up gaining yards-especially after first contact. He also falls forward most of the time.

What is his level of interest in BYU and who else is recruiting him. Additionally, any other vital stats about him (40 time, catching the ball out of the backfield, intangibles, how he compares to other Island backs, etc.)

This 5-foot-11, 180-pound back was a key player for state-power and FAB 50-ranked Kahuku this fall, rushing for 1,175 yards and 17 touchdowns. Saturday he showed he was more than just a product of the physical Red Raiders' run-first offense, clocking a 4.61 40, 4.16 shuttle and throwing the power ball 36 feet on the way to a 100.86 SPARQ Rating, the fourth-best at the event.

After watching the video - he has a massive OL that opens holes - which he hits very fast and then accelerates even more when in the backfield. Love his toughness.



Are we pursuing any of the OL from Kahuku?

This hard running back will be visiting the campus towards the end of January. Hopefully, he receives an offer and is able to join his teammate Johnny Tapusoa. Comes from storied Kahuku HS program.

Very humble kid - very hard runner. Would like to see him on the team because of warrior mentality and great attitude.

Plan was to have it fixed after his jr season. Never heard if it happened but watching him this year he must have had it done. Btw he finished ahead of Mark Atuaia for career rushing yards. IIRC I think 2nd all time in the state.

TBS reporting that he committed to HI today.

Apparently his HS grades (academic concerns) kept BYU from offering him.
