Kanter looks like the next Fesenko or Koufos.

Jimmer looks like a guy who actually will contribute in the NBA.

That's all.

Jazz have made some VERY questionable moves. Welcome to bottom feeder purgatory Utah.

The Jazz are notoriously bad with their first round draft picks. With the exception of Deron Williams, almost everyone they pick is a bust. The Jazz are the new Timberwolves or LA Clippers of the league.

Ugh.

I said it last year when they traded Dwill. They have become the new Nets. Jimmer would have put butts in the seat too. I would be surprised if ESA is even half full at any point this year. And Jimmer most likely would have be an upgrade over Devin Harris at pg, this year (IF Harris even plays an entire year).

And Hayword/Bell/Miles at the 2 guard? Please. Jimmer would wipe the floor with those guys.

Definitely should have traded down, tried to land the 6 or 7 spot, and taken Jimmer there. The Spazz probably wouldn't have taken Jimmer with their 12th if he was still on the board.

Good riddance. Maybe we let RSL use the ESA as their indoor training grounds, and have Taylor Swift and Rascall Flats play there on the weekends.

I honestly question whether or not the Jazz ownership wants to stay in Utah. Drafting quite possibly 3 top 12 busts in 2 years is a good way to do that. (Although I think that Burks might actually have some game)

Can we cool it a bit on the Jazz hate?

I'm probably similar to most people here in that I'm a VERY casual Jazz fan and I didn't see a whole lot last night that made me feel like I'm going to cheer for them this year.

But it's hard to hate on the Jazz for picking Kanter. It's not like the Jazz specifically went against conventional wisdom to draft a bad player a la Darko and the Wolves. Most draft projections I saw had him going 3rd or 4th. It was, for all intents and purposes, a pretty crappy draft. I'm sure some guys picked later will turn out to be solid additions, but again, I can't hate on an organization for not picking some second-rounder who inexplicably becomes an all-star.

I also don't agree with the notion that Jimmer "mops the floor" with Gordon Hayward - they had virtually the same stat line against the same team.

I'm happy that Jimmer is doing okay thus far but he's got a long way to go before we start calling teams out for not picking him. Plus, I don't think Jimmer's production in Sacramento is necessarily what he would have done had he stayed in Utah. It would've been a higher pressure situation in what appears to be a less competent environment. I'm personally happy that Jimmer isn't with the Jazz for boths' sakes.

I for one am relieved the Jazz didn't get Jimmer. The only good thing that would have come from it is it would have been easier to see him on TV. That and it would have been hilarious to watch David Locke turn from panning the guy to singing his praises as the Jazz's hired shill.

I'd hate to see Jimmer have a terrible coach and teammates like he would have had with the Jazz, not to mention the terrible owner.

Jimmer would have put butts in seats at ESA until the fans realized the team sucks and even Jimmer can't help them win. The Jimmer novelty would have worn off VERY quickly. I'm glad Jimmer didn't go to the Jazz.

What kind of team gets punked by nearly 30 points to a team that is playing its third game in three nights?

Oh yeah, a team that is positioning itself for a sale and subsequent move.

Me too, but for much more selfish reasons:

1) I completely dislike the Jazz

2) Sacramento is a stone's throw away from me

Yep. I'm not a conspiracy theory type person, but I am getting closer and closer to believing this is the case. Why else would you bog the Jazz down with ridiculous salaries, and draft absolute busts year in and year out?

You do realize that unless it is a very very special draft a majority of the picks are "busts" right? This was not a great draft. Kanter is what 19 years old? It was one game. Chill out, I feel like you usually aren't this irrational blueisbetter.

ALthough, when you want to sell something don't you put lipstick on it? I guess it could be the difference between Larry and Son. Or just the pangs of rebuilding after a perennial powerhouse was built around three hall-of-famers, two unconventional all-stars who actually liked or were ok staying in Utah, along with a coach. And again, the diff between the way LArry did business person-to-person where handshakes meant as much as contracts. Which again, when that Family business style was applied, we got a "good guy" for a jazz coach who is not likely a very good coach who is swarmed over by left-over-Larry-upper-management who are just collecting pay-checks and don't feel the commitment they previously felt toward LArry. Who knows. Glad Jimmer didn't come. Kanter looks to me to have a long way to go in offensive skills.

It was one game. And after 40, it will be 40. There is no reason that the Jazz should be as bad as they are right now.

Most the picks in a draft aren't "busts". And certainly not where the jazz have been picking lately. I have a pretty thorough analysis of the jazz's drafting since 2000 on this thread. It's too long to post here, but go ahead and read it, and tell me that they have done a good job in the last 10-12 years. These latest top 10 picks are just the cherry on top.

Jimmer has scored 6 points twice. I would say its a bit early to say he is mopping the floor with anyone right now. He is playing well, but not spectacular. Hayward had a good year the second half of the year, he even had some great games. Jimmer has two alright games. Let's not be irrational. FYI I love jimmer and think he will be a very good player for sacramento. Lets just not over inflate his value after two decent games.

Correct me if I am wrong, but Jimmer has played 4 games thus far: 2 pre-season games (road and home) against the Warriors, and 2 regular season games, against the Lakers and against Portland. And in a L, a W, a W, and a L, he has scored 21, 12, 6, and 10 points. Isn't that correct (or dang close to it)?

You're actually both correct. In scoring 21, 12, and 10 points, Jimmer had to score at least 6 points, and then he also had his game of 6 points. So, he's actually scored 6 four times ;)

Or you could break it down like this: Jimmer has scored a total of 49 points, so he's scored 6 points eight times.

I wasn't counting pre season I apologize. Ok 6 and 10 points. Very good, and I am very happy for him. He is playing well. He is not dominating the league like some would like to believe. We should not have taken him at 3. I would have loved to have traded down to 7 or 8 to get him, but we didnt. Jimmer would not be the saving grace of the jazz, is all I am saying. The Jazz would not be 2-0 if they had jimmer.

Jimmer's problem is that he plays on a selfish team so, as a rookie, you can tell he's tentative to shoot. Most of the team plays 1v1 ball and they have to hope for a good shooting night to win. It's not pretty even though they have some good talent.

Yep. The telling thing is that these guys are kicking out to Jimmer for the 3 after their drives. So they at least have some confidence in him as a player and a shooter, even as a rookie.

The point was not that Jimmer is all-world or better than a 3rd pick. the point is, he is more plug and play than a kanter, notwithstanding the different positions. the Kings are getting more out of Jimmer than the Jazz are getting out of kanter. He looks horrible. And I think that is why some were saying why did the jazz pick who they did.

IN fact there is one more variable. Jimmer looks more valuable on a team that will likely do better than the jazz, which only widens the perceived value. Fesenko is more valuable than Kanter. He is a project.
