I hope the Cougars have just eaten too much turkey and are looking past a very bad team. This is a hard game to watch. We should be killing this team. Don't know if it looks any different on tv.

Yeah it is a little painful. I have a question. Who is responsible for that card on the floor? I cannot believe that (1) it was left there in the first place and (2) that no one thought to pick it up after the official was hurt. I see negligence.

Finally, MC brought a little RN energy and heart and byu went on a run.

It looked like the "card" was a stick pad that most teams have near center court for when players come into a game. Instead of licking fingers to wipe dirt off the bottom of shoes, you can just have the sticky "card" pull the dirt off for you. You'd have thought that developers of that card would have made the bottom non-slip though.



Agreed. Slow game of BYU basketball. Cougars better look a LOT sharper on Thursday.

The wife and I went out for a post-Christmas date (and to use a Cheesecake Factory gift card we got) so I DVR'd the game. Made it quite palatable to watch the game sped up. Very ugly game - except for that spurt in the 2nd half where BYU went from up 8 to up 28 in about four minutes.

Watched it on DVR too. It did help. We played horribly. I like that we push the ball and I like Rose's focus on it, but we were out of control way too many times. I think Harrison got picked from behind three times while pushing it down the court.



In those situations, someone needs to streak on wing for the 3 point shot. We have th shooters, so no reason why Harrison/Carlino can't run it down the middle and pass it out to Zylstra/Winder on the wing for the 3.

Rose didn't seem all too worked up about stuff either. Maybe the team mirrored his emotion and he was just waiting to spring the D and go on a run in the 2nd half. Who knows. Fortunately, this is an exception. BUt still, some fundamentals will bite us in a big conf game; AND I can see two big ones: TURNOVERS AND FREETHROWS. mark it down.

I'll have to admit that I'm succumbing to the wonderful BYUtv broadcasts and watching the games from my living room. I've only made it physically to two games this BB season. It was a very trying game to watch because I knew we should have been burying the opponent much earlier and to a greater degree than we did. I hope we got that out of our system. Carlino in the 2nd half though is bringing enjoyment to watching the 2011-12 version of the Cougars.

I'm not too worried about poor play in this game as there are a lot of factors that are easily resolved: just got back from Christmas break, little prep time if any for this team, playing a lower tier team, looking ahead to a big week of conference bball, etc. these things go away With preparation and focus.

Sure, BYU could've played a lot better, but this game was a lot like the Utah game. They would run down the shot clock, running time off and taking away a lot of possessions that would've resulted in more transition chances. At least this game we eventually broke out of it and made the game out of reach.

Good point. Although i'm not sure our possessions were considerably lower than the mean. Carlino was 3 of 4 from 3-land. The rest of the team was like 1 of 13. If we even make 3 of those we add 9 points and get close to a 90 point mark which would have been and should have been....

But defensive pressure in the second half, when Rose said he turned it up, made a huge difference.
