Jabari Parker

Is there any chance he is noticing how much fun it might be around here with Carlino the next few years. Austin. Guys coming back from missions. Rodgers. The young studs that stepped up this year. Davies. CC if healthy.



We lose Hartsock. Anyone else?



This team will be fun to watch this year - and if we replace Hartsock - an excellent team next year.



Plus Parker - even as a True Freshman - killer by tournament time. Jimmerish.

I don't think Parker graduates until the following year. He'd come in with the younger Emery in 2013 - 2014 I believe. We lose Noah and Charles next year. We'll be getting Haws and maybe Chatman next year if he doesn't go on a mission right after HS

Jabari is a junior this year. Chatman the Younger already has his mission call. He leaves in May to Taiwan.

My bad. He says he isn't going to focus on his recruitment until his senior year which explains why it is so quiet on that front right now. He can clearly go just about any place he wants to go.



He belongs in Provo if he is committed to the honor code - and it seems that he would be based on what I have read.



So I guess he has another year to reflect on how fun it might be to play with a junior Carlino, and a pretty fun to watch supporting cast as they come in, and perhaps go on and return from their missions, and graduate.



It seems that if he lives up to his potential and Carlino continues his trajectory, with a Haws, Emory, and Collinsworth here and there and the other guys on the team and in the pipeline,



Parker would have more supporting talent that is also experienced, than The Jimmer enjoyed.

If Parker wants to be a one-and-done, then BYU would have a great supporting cast for him.



You'd have Haws a full year back from his mission. Nate Austin would be a Junior at the 5. Carlino and Winder are JRs at the 1 & 2. Damarcus Harrison is a JR at the 3. Kyle Collinsworth is back as well. Nick Emery is there. TJ Haws is there. Isaac Nielsen would be there as well.



The future is SO bright for the bball team.

You know a recruit is hot when it seems like forever that his name has been out there in the recruiting world. I think the world has been recruiting Jabari since he graduated from Kindergarten.



I've heard that Arnett in his weekly sports letter gives BYU a 50-50 chance based on some new information that he has received, but I'll believe it more when I see it. I just haven't heard of much contact by our coaching staff with him as we heard with DeMarcus. Now that doesn't mean that there isn't, but just call me a doubting Thomas.

I don't know much about this kid, but I thought I read an article that the kid is active LDS and that he could play in the NBA today if he had the opportunity. I don't know what is true. What position does he play?

Currently at 6'8" he could play the 4 or 5. He has long arms and shot blocking abilities.

Certain future players at BYU have been in contact with him and developing relationships with him. We have, what seems to me, a better shot at getting what should be a Top 20 recruit in the nation than we normally would. And yes he's active and likes the atmosphere BYU would offer.

He also has Coach K after him among other Elite Coaches.

I keep hoping that he realizes, if he is a "one and done" kid, that he would get as much PT and star power at BYU than just being thrown in the mix at a Duke. BUt then again, if he is truly good enough to be a one and done kid even at Duke, if he is focusing at all on the NBA, playing for Coach K would conceivably get him higher up the 1st round draft board. NOthing against Coach R, of course. Here's hoping. That could be a special team. A very experienced run and gunner in Carlino, Winder/HArrison, THaws/KCollinsowrth, Parker, and, I guess NAustin--with new, crazy talented utah kids coming off bench in Emery and TJHaws (unless he's on a mission by then--but would stay one year longer to play w/parker). Probably left a few off who might play into the mix. BUt that would be a deep slew of talent.

Depends on what he does while at BYU. If he comes in as a freshman and lead's BYU to the final 4, he is going to go very high in the draft. If he goes to Duke and leads Duke to the final 4, he goes high in the draft. I clicked on the link in the tweets but my work network blocks the site catagory (games). Looks like I'll have to wait unit I am home to see it.



EDIT: if he goes to duke ends up a role player and they go to the final 4, he will not be a 1 and done lottery pick.

agreed. Maybe the most significant point in his decision making process. UNless again, he's good enough (Kyrie Irving-good enough) to be a one and done even at Duke.

And hopefully he converses with Chris Burgess who had notions of 1 and done at Duke. He was done at Duke in 2 or 3 and eventually had a decent, but unspectacular senior season at Utah.

I believe Jabari tweeted Demarcus Harrison last night that he was hanging out with his brother who's on a mission. That's a good sign

Has anyone seen any hint that Jabari wants to serve a mission? I haven't, but I don't know much about Jabari.
