Bowl Attendance Figures

I was looking up the Hawaii attendance which was 32,000. here are the numbers for everyone. MWC not doing so hot except for BSU.

Hawaii sure didn't look anywhere close to 32,000. I'm guessing that that's all the mandatory tickets that the two schools had to purchase.

Anybody who watched the Hawaii bowl knows that number is BUNK. There was lucky to be 5,000 people in that game from what footage I could see!

The Hawaii Bowl only makes sense when Hawaii is in it. Airfare to Hawaii between Dec 15 and Jan 10 is a killer unless reserved months in advance.

Well since the schools have to buy those tickets as part of their agreement to be in the bowl, then I don't have a problem with them reflecting that number. It would be interesting to see actual attendance numbers for such events, but the number sold has been an acceptable quote for many years now.

That is if you fly commercial. I bet the Hawaii Bowl hooks the team up with a charter carrier. BYU football now uses one for every road game. It is cheaper, and probably 2-3x for flights to Hawaii.

I am talking about the fans. The teams usually show up. The high airfares are the reason why it is hard to get the fans to show up in droves.



The bowl, ironically set up so UH would always have a bowl, was probably justified with corporate support and possibly sponsorships because of benefit to the tourist industry. Then the tourists can't come because the airlines are already filled with tourists that planned way ahead and booked discount fares.



Ill conceived, economically. It is too bad it isn't held about Jan 10, after airfares start dropping.

Well our game got a 95% but the attendance was a little over 30,000. I would have like to have seen more people though.
