2012 Football Schedule

True Blue tonight had Tom Holmoe and supposely talked about the schedule. I missed it and can't find any links. Did we get any news?

I wonder if it sounded something like this:



"There is much speculation right now regarding conference affiliation [the 2012 football schedule] that seems to change by the hour. Commenting on such conjecture is not productive and creates a distraction for our program. As we enter [end] the 2011-12 athletic season, BYU is focused on the opportunities ahead. We are excited about our relationship with ESPN as a football independent and our affiliation with the West Coast Conference. The university will have no further comment."

I was under the impression that 2012 is set with the addition of Washington State. But maybe I missed something.



The link below indicates that all 12 games are set as far as home and aaway but 8 have dates and 4 do not. The 4 that do not have dates are Georgia Tech and 3 WAC teams. Two WAC teams and GA Tech are road games and 1 WAC team is a home game. The 8 games with dates are all very interesting games and roll without a break from Sept 1 thru Oct. ND is Oct 20th. Dates after that are TBD.



WSU Cougars - Provo

WSU Wildcats - Provo

U Utes - SLC

BSU Broncos = Boise

UH Warriors - Provo

USU Aggies - Provo

OSU Beavers - Provo

ND F-Irish - South Bend



TBD - Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, NMSU Aggies, SJSU Spartans - On The Road Again

Idaho Vandals- Provo



Yes - the best games are road games.



Home = WSU, WSU, UH, USU, OSU, and Idaho

Road = U, BSU, ND, GT, NMSU, and SJSU



Yes - A dull November / late OCT (NMSU, SJSU, and Idaho) except for GT. But only only one of those will be at home in the cold winter weather late at night. The others will be on the road in similar conditions, except for GT - Balmy.

I watched the reply. GA Tech was pushed to a later date. They were willing to move to allow us to play WA St. Also Nov will be a little better but we will be on the road a lot at the end of the year. No WAC agreement in 2013 as they would not be needed. One game not finalized yet. Has not announced dates as games have been moving around like GA Tech. Finally the schedules are getting better.

The weather in Las Cruces and San Jose shouldn't be bad at all. I'm definitely going to the NMSU game and might be able to make it to the SJSU game depending on scheduling.

I hope we end up with a similar record next year as we do this year (10-3) assuming we beat Tulsa.

I've read in various places that the Idaho game isn't happening. Can anyone confirm/deny?

Ugh, I don't want to live in a world where USU is a potential loss. I don't care if they're getting better. I don't care if we lost to them last year. I don't care that we could've lost to them this year. USU should be a guaranteed win, year in and year out. I expect them to play tough, and if they play us close, that's okay. But BYU DOES NOT lose to Utah State.



I stand by the policy established by Bronco these last two years - if USU beats you, you lose your job. Doesn't matter if you're a coach (Hill) or a player (Heaps).

TH indicated that they are still trying to nail a date with one team. That could be Idaho as it is one of the ones where the date is not set. If the dates can not align after various attempts to get Idaho opponents to move their games, it could fall to a later year and BYU could be scrounging someting for 2012. I hope it gets set or tha they find a similar opponent. This schedule is loaded enough, so hopefully we do not get one too tough or one at a lower divison. Idaho is just right.

This - u gotta draw the line somewhere. And losing to U a 3rd straight ought to cost somebody something too if it happens.

I think we have said that we would not play at Idaho due to the stadium being too small or something like that. So they might be coming here again or it could be another game. I would not mind LA Tech.

ON the Idaho game, they were the 1 WAC team we said we would not do home-home with, and I think they are not happy with it. Have heard that this game could be replaced with a BE game as some of those teams need games should WVU leave for the Big XII next year. The tea I heard was Cincinnati, but just a rumor, of course. But if BYU can parlay the Idaho home game into a game vs a BE team at LES, I am all for it.

We don't want to join the BE but they can play on our ESPN channel in Provo anytime. Any need to promote themselves on tv as much as possible.

KVN doesn't ask the internet who he's playing next, the internet politely asks KVN who he'd like to play next, then promptly schedules that opponent.
