I think I fall under category two. Episode I was so so, II was horrible, III was enjoyable(overall).

#2 and #4 apply, but I voted #2 after deciding that Jar Jar was merely the vomit icing on the turd cake.

I checked option one, in that I must have them, but only ever watch the really cool battle scenes. When I've got a spare half hour I tend to put in the opening sequence of Episode III.

I found them all on DVR, but I don't own any of them.

You could probably add the jar jar comment to all of the options without changing anyone's vote.

Gotta love the action sequences, but I think the Scifi world missed out on a chance to witness some truly epic movies. Unfortunately, as it turns out, George Lucas is a crappy director.

Was it just directing, or was it writing as well? If you took the exact same script and gave it to a better director we would have got the "epic movies"? I've never really thought about it, but I do think a better director could have made them awesome.

The directing wasn't great, but the casting of Hayden Christensen was awful.

And Jake Lloyd. And the dialogue was atrocious throughout the prequels.

"Are you an angel?"

"You killed younglings?!"

"Lost a planet Master Kenobi has. How embarrassing."

Every line by Jar Jar.

My favorite part is that there happens to be a flight helmet that fits a 6 year old sitting in a star fighter and he automatically knows how to fly it.

The thing you're supposed to understand about Anakin, and I guess perhaps the directing failed to convey this to you, is that he's some kind of child prodigy who can build and/or fly pretty much anything, which is why he's racing in the deadly pod races even though he's only 10 years old. The helmet is harder to explain, maybe it's a women's small?

No, I understand the "child prodigy/fix/fly anything" angle. I just thought that part was too cheesey (maybe directing again?) and took away from an otherwise enjoyable battle scene.

BUT, the casting of Ewen McGregor was genius!

Ironically, as a quasi-tragedy, the only real tragedy is that the movies were ever made. I'm embarrassed to have spent money to see each one in the theater. Wooden acting, horrible writing, horribly weak fight scenes, superfluous CG, inane plot lines, zero-zero-zero character development for anyone but especially THE MAIN CHARACTER! He whined when he was young, whined more as a teen, and whined the moment he became Vader with that embarrassing "NOOOO" scene.

*Triple Facepalm* in effect here.

I used to be proud to say that I had seen every every star wars movie in the theaters (a feat for someone born in '77). Then the "first" one came out. Oops. The 2nd one came out and I didn't even bother to see it or the 3rd one in theaters. Saw them later as rentals. Don't even own the "first" three.

Even worse than having spent money to see them all...

When I got home from my mission Star Wars II had just come out and I was so pumped to see that asap. My dad took my to watch it and on the way he said that I ought to check out the Lord of the Rings. I said "Sure, whatever." Obviously I hadn't heard of it at that point in my life. Needless to say Attack of the Clones was actionless and Fellowship had me on the edge of my seat for 3 hours straight. I guess I should have been clued into the fact that it had stayed in the theaters for over 8 months!

When I got home my parents had just bought the extended cut of Fellowship of the Ring, but I somehow missed the fact that this was merely the first round of a trilogy. My sister and I started the movie a little before midnight, and around 2AM I started thinking "how long can this movie possibly be? I mean, I know it's an extended cut, but this is a bit ridiculous for one movie" then it suddenly ended and I was pissed when I found out I had to wait two years to finish it.

This is the best ever review of Star Wars Episode 1, and if you aren't angry with everything about the movie yet, you will be after you watch it.

Beware, there is occasional foul language. There are seven parts, this is just the first:
