Adam Hine

Did I miss something? I just read several people claim that Hine is doing well in practice and they fully expect him to do good things next year. I thought the same thing about phillips, but that didn't pan out. What has Hine been doing in practice, if you don't mind my asking?



I'm going to take whatever comes next with a grain of salt since the kid has never played a down of D1 football and could still be total bust, or the next Unga/Brown.

Philips didn't pan out for different reasons. School and "fitting in" reasons. He would have been a legit threat for us on returns and on the sweep.



Hine should be a good player for us. He is a solid runner, and was a good get for us.

Not only is Hine a very good, can-play-almost-any-position, kind of athlete, but just as importantly, he is a very solid BYU kind of guy. With his humility and sense of priorities, I don't think we need to be concerned about him transferring or dropping out. He holds the state HS high-jump record at something crazy like 7' 2". He played several positions in HS FB including RB and QB.



Don't expect him to be a big talker. He will let his play on the field do the talking for him.

Phillips never got on the field, so I don't know if he would have panned out as a football player. Looking back, I'm disappointed I even started this thread. I feel it's doing a player a disservice to start discussing how good/bad they are going to be before they even step on the field.



I had never heard of Unga before 2007. I will always remember that Arizona game and how amazed I was with his talent. I think as a general rule I'm going to stop reading anything football related about players until they have played in an actual game.

Hine played well enough on scout team to be awarded travel trip to HI game. T. Hook has also been tearing it up at WR on scout team as did Alex Kuresa. Scout team is where players make a name and position for themselves (see Max Hall, Uona Kaveignga, Russ Apo) and secure future playing time. BTW players reported that Drew Phillips was fantastic on punt/KO returns, and would have played significant minutes this year he could have kept up his grades.

Yeah, but Alex is too small, didn't play against good competition in HS, and isn't your typical BYU QB. He'll never amount to anything. Right?



Not to mention he didn't have 5 stars coming out of HS.



Again, I'd rather just have the players prove how good they are on the field. We'll see, sounds like BYU has some players in the wings though.

He would put a star on his cleats for every TD he scored on the scout team (KO/punt returns, receiving, rushing)...and he got into the 20's.

Sound like my kind of guy. Someone who was underrated, yet worked hard enough that they became awesome (think Kellen Moore).

not a chance. Staley was a once in a lifetime combination of incredible Bulk and The Flash. perhaps a little bit of Gumby in him too for . At first I thought he was on steroids until I realized it was the Ninja Turtle Toxic ooze. yes, that's where Staley is now. He's a ninja turtle.

So he turned into a turtle; where does he live? District 9?

Adam Hine should be a great swith it up back. With JJ graduating that leaves room for a RB that is good on the edge. Juice will battle with Alisa for the power.



Adam was crazy athletic back in HS. Saw him play a handful of times. Recent videos from thursdays hero's show that Adam is huge(ripped) He was a lot skinnier last time I saw him.

Should be good!

He played qb in high school? Maybe he'll find an opportunity to throw a pass. Other teams will have to account for R N after the hand off.

Between Quezada and Alisa we should be able to work Hine into the rotation without putting too much pressure on him.

Every thing I read about him during his HS career suggested that he is that kind of talent. He played a number of different positions (all well), and was a dominating running back, which was his position, but they needed a QB his senior year, so they asked him to step in. He played as though that was his natural position. He may not be Luuuuuuke, but I'm betting on him being an impact player from the git-go.

He played RB on offense in HS, though he was utilized all around

All opponents are going to see is his Hine end heading for paydirt once he gets into the open field.

Adam is so athletic, quick & suck an incredible jumper. I'd like to see him play @ CB. I bet he'd be a solid lockdown CB. I know he'd be NFL calibre.



But - he will also be an amazing RD w/ jukes & turbo corner speed. I can hardly wait to see him play.!!!!
