The NCAA allows $550 worth of crap to be given to players of bowl games. Some bowls give and some don't.

I looked up what BYU players get this year at the Armed Forces bowl:

Sony Gift suite, Timely Watch Co. watch, camo knit beanie, Ogio backpack, Big Game souvenir football.

better than a kick in the butt but I kind of liked the $420 Best Buy shopping spree from the capital One Bowl or the Toshiba 32" flat screen from the Meineke Car Care bowl of Texas

Anyways, here is what the Utes get at the Sun Bowl:

Gift suite, Timely Watch Co. watch, Majestic Pro-Base fleece pullover, VP Sports cap, Ogio Politan backpack, Helen of Troy hair dryer, souvenir coin

yes you read that right. Wynn is finally going to get his HELEN OF TROY hair dryer. The irony and hilarity of the situations cannot be overemphasized. BCS gods be praised we're finally recognizing the source of Wynn's strength and girliness.

It gets better. Guess what Boise St players earn after their MONSTER BCS snub at the Las Vegas Bowl:

a hat. That's all.

yup, you read that right. All those millions of dollars earned off of Boise' shoulders and the Bowl couldn't afford the NCAA spending limit. Boise players are awarded the ultimate slap in the face,a "we hate you Boise" and "we wish you'd freaking join the Big least" so here's your Maaco Las Vegas Bowl Hat. Congratulations boise for joining the MWC  . Hope it was all worth it. (wah, wah wah, waaaaaaaaah)

I may be wrong, but I think those "gift suites" can be pretty sweet. My wife worked with a former football player who went to one of the LV Bowls under Bronco and I think he got a free Xbox out of it.

Yeah, I had heard that the Las Vegas Bowl was pretty generous when BYU was going there. I can't believe that they went cheap skate for Boise this year.

Isn't that all any trucker ever wanted for Christmas? Another hat?

I would imagine those gifts are donated by the manufacturers for the free publicity. This must mean free publicity value of a BYU game > than for a BSU game. Bowls probably do not have to buy it. Idk. Just guessing.
