Back when BYU kicked butt on The University of Washington and landed Jake Heaps over them - his likely second choice at the time, UW fans circled the wagons and saved face shorty after when they landed Joe Montana's son - Nick. They said that although rated sligtly below Jake Heaps, Montana was a better fit for their program.
And talk about Advisors and an Entourage. Joe Montana himself is an advisor and an entourage. I am not saying Joe interferes. I have never heard any complaints about Joe. But just the pressure of it being Joe Montana's son - has to be huge.
And yet, Nick Montana was red-shirted. And when Jake Locker went down, less heralded Keith Price got the nod over Montana. Keith just got the most inspirational player award on the team for bouncing back from various injuries and playing tough. He is a sophomore.
Back when Nick Montana first arrived - the word was that it looked like it would be a while before he factored into the QB situation in any big way because he didn't pick things up right away - steep learning curve. Nick Montana got his first significant shot as a red-shirt freshman a week or two ago when Keith Price was injured again. Montana did not look good. Price is recovered and will be the starter in the Bowl game.
Anyway, Nick Montana, a prized recruit, handled by the other best QB coach in the country - Sark, is stuck on the dept chart behind a guy with 2 years left to play and Nick has only three years left to play.
Rumor is heating up that Nick will transfer. Stuff happens. My recommendation would be the same one I previously had for Jake Heaps - Don't do it. Be patient. Stuff happens. Your time will come if you have the talent, work hard, and play tough. Same advice everytime people suggested Lark should transfer from BYU.
