How Much Does a Weber St Win Atone for the USU Loss

Weber State beat Utah State and Utah State beat BYU. Now assuming BYU beats Weber State then BYU, USU, and WSU would each have a home win and a road loss against the other two.



In some ways beating WSU would make up for the loss in Logan in my mind, in other ways it would just make me more frustrated that we couldn't put that game away, especially since the wheels are falling off of USU's season and conference play hasn't even started.



Weber State is playing some fantastic ball right now (only loss was on the road at #1 RPI SMC) and Lilliard is having a Jimmer-like season (28.2 ppg, 50% fg, 44% 3p). Even if we beat them in Provo, would we beat them at their place? or on a neutral court?

With Jardine's injury, we would beat Utah State in Logan and anywhere else.

Only to a certain extent, in my opinion. We started the game okay and were in it until a 2nd half run by the Aggies.

Good to see your posts again. I was just wondering the other day if you had disappeared from CC. I agree with our loss to the Aggies, one of those we never should have let get away. I wonder what the coaches could have done to better prepare our guys mentally for that atmosphere?

IMO it was the same as two years ago, we were in the game, leading even. Then in the early/middle of the second half we go stone cold shooting and can't get back in the game. Really aggravating. Sure, the spectrum adds to that, BYU's own nerves added to it too. I don't think it was a USU run as much as it was a BYU anti-run. Either way, that loss is going to eat me up every time USU loses to Texas A&M girls school e.g.

Not to worry. USU beat UVU last night by 9 in the Spectrum. :roll:

When I watched the Wisconsin game, it was apparent how much more basketball talent BYU had than even a top 15 team like the Badgers. We're just not terribly disciplined and you need discipline to win on the road. When you psyche yourself out, you might as well throw discipline out the window; the lack of confidence makes you want to create when you don't need to and pass when you should be shooting.



BYU should have not only beaten USU, but destroyed them. The X factor was that the Cougs let the Spectrum dictate to them that they were the underdogs and should be content staying close. This should have been a blow out; not just a W.

To be fair many teams are more talented but less disciplined than Wisconsin. That doesn't stop Wisconsin from winning the games- it is what they do.



Your secondary point is exicting. This team could become very good. They just need to put in the film room time and develop their defensive chemistry.

I haven't gone anywhere; I'm just incredibly busy with work right now (I even gave up facebook just to tend to all the medical paperwork and dictation that I've put off for months) and my heart is still pained that the Big 12 didn't pull the trigger on us. But it's hoops season now and I'm too emotionally attached to Charles Abouo and Noah Hartsock to not get fully invested in this season.

If you recall, Abouo and Hartsock were called "garbage" a couple years ago by posters on this forum while I knew that both had the talent to be headlining players. I've never rooted harder for a BYU athlete than I do for Hartsock and Abouo... I want them to have tremendously successful and rewarding senior years.

I don't think a win over Weber atones for anything. We should beat them. A loss sets us way back.

Remember USU was the first game of the season. It will be forgotten and discounted by the end of the season.

Considering that we're in the running for Jabari Parker (how much I'm not sure) I think that not making the dance would be the death blow to getting him. We have to win tonight and we really need to beat Baylor in Provo to put outselves off the bubble. Otherwise, we might have to win the regular or postseason WCC to be dancing.

A win against Baylor would go a long way. Hope we're eager after the Wisconsin loss, but can't get stuck looking past Weber.



If we don't win the WCC championship, I think we'll need to finish with no more than 7 losses, assuming we beat Baylor.



Ideally, it's be great is we win out in the WCC. :crazy: Realistically, though, should we not win the WCC tournement, I think we'll have to split our series with the Zags and Gaels and drop no more than two other games, probably USF or Loyola. We'll need 26+ wins IMO.

this is not a friendly schedule RPI-wise. I think we'll need close to 25 wins to make the dance.

Yeah, I never understood those posters' negativity, especially toward Noah. It will be great to see those two succeed. Good luck catching up on your dictations. At least you have the icy cold KC winter to keep you indoors and productive. I don't miss those winters from my days at KUMC.

I don't know if it atoned for the loss to USU, but I don't think there's any question about who the hottest BBall team in the state is after tonight.

I'll totally 3rd this point. Hartsock has always been a solid player. If you don't think so, you're plain...... crazy.
