Others to follow Jake out?

Yesterday David Locke mentioned something about a divide in the locker room and wondered if other players would follow Jake out. I didn't hear it today, but a colleague said they heard Hans Olsen on 1280 say that his sources are saying Apo is a goner after the bowl game? Personally I wish Heaps would stay here... He isn't.. Players come and go.. and you know what we move on... I think losing Apo hurts more than Heaps.. then again... players come and go and we move on..

It makes absolutely zero sense for Apo to leave. There's no way he leaves. FWIW, I don't think Jake had a huge following on that team. I could be wrong, but I'm not seeing that.

If anyone else is leaving, they will announce within the week for the same reason Jake made his move yesterday as opposed to sooner or later--they need to get a release from BYU so they can find another school, do all the paperwork, enroll, move etc. before classes start first week of January. Hans has almost zero credibility on locker-room dynamics.

I have heard of a possible player leaving, but it is not Apo. And the reasons this player will leave are tied to playing time, but also to recent family issues.



Honestly, I expect things to improve. I think Bronco will get a better handle on his team--not just his defense. He also needs to win the hearts and minds of his O. He started trying that last year, and I expect a bigger effort in 2012.

Anymore "barking dogs" will be invited to leave (Not implying Jake was asked to leave, although Doman sure seemed done with Jake--cant say I blame Doman, he was only trying to protect his job). This caravan is moving on. Im sure Bronco will be glad to not have any more divisions or derisions that he wasn't managing very well.

This is Riley's team, yes, aply earned on the playing field.

I am pretty sure that KVN and Apo are closer than Jake and Apo. IIRC KVN and Apo are roomies.

Plus how close could Jake and Apo be after Apo got left out to dry twice! ;)

The only thing I'm hearing any rumblings about is Kori Gaines. I sure hope not, but like Spiff said, if we're going to hear anything, we'd probably hear it very soon.

Lawboy I assume you are talking about Quezada. That would make sense. If he leaves it is not because of Jake but more because of playing time and probably wanting to be closer to family? I don't see Apo leaving.

It also wouldn't be a loss to us since Quezada was the worst of our running backs by a mile.

Drew Philips oh wait he already left. Actually Heaps has spoken with him and is trying to get him to join him where ever he goes.

I could see Quezada leaving temporarily. Especially given the death of his brother, it has to be avery rough time on his family. I could also seem him taking next semester off and then coming back in the fall so he could spend more time with his family the next few months to get through this very tough time.



I bet Bronco would very much support something like that.

Most of the media guys said they don't know, but based on what they observed, a lot of the team had kind of moved past Jake.

Why would anyone give him grief? Talk about a legit reason to want to be closer to home.

His Brother was killed in a car accident. I think before the NMSU game.

A terrible tragedy, and some thing anyone would support him being with his family for.

Apo would not be smart to leave, especially since he already redshirted and would be sitting out a year and lose a year of eligibility. He will be starting as a sophomore, alongside hoffman so defenses can't cheat over on him. He has a great situation.

I don't think you can look at Juice's circumstances and suggest he would be in any way "following" Heaps out the door.

For those that understand the transfer rules better than me - when would these transfers need to take place? In other words, at what date can I breathe easily assuming no transfers happen?



Just curious.

Since a player has to sit a year anyway, I suspect it can happen either now so a guy can enroll for spirng elsewhere, or eve after the year. Either way they miss the 2012 season. But those that leave now get spring ball 2012 with the coaches.
